The man turned back and took two long glances at the two of them. Eliseline could only nod along.
"So you're going to Lord Balint's mansion… for that?" the driver asked.
"I don't know. Maybe. The man who adopted us just told us to get here as soon as possible so here we are."
"Sorry."
"No, no, don't worry. Our lives are better because of it. Anyway, you were talking about nobles in your carriage."
"Now it makes sense," the driver said. "I was wondering why you two were so quiet back there. Usual nobles would've stopped five times and complained about the seats twenty. Who knows how many coins I spent on making those seats as soft as possible? But it's never enough."
Eliseline wasn't that offended by the accusations. After all, he was right. Also, the things the driver described were small things compared to Sylvester's needs and tantrums.
