It took some time for Zuri to make food for three. Enough time for the usually dark room to be filled with sunlight at some point. The sunlight was probably a once in a lifetime incident, since it was coming from the gap in their ceiling. Normally, the kitchen was dark all-day round.
Zuri hummed playfully as she made the food, finding fun things to think about. Ario joined in on her amusement, giggling at the birds she could see through the gap in the ceiling. She had all but forgotten the mages' attack earlier.
Zuri guessed it was a good thing. She didn't want her children to live in fear.
Rabi, however, looked petrified to see her mother acting so carefree.
"Are the mages really gone?" she asked worriedly.
"Yes. My lady has taken care of them."
"I thought she went to the north."
"Yes… she left after taking care of the mages."
"How?"
"She promised them her inventions and some mages back."
"…That's it?"
