The woman walked to the center of the stage carrying a violin, she smiled at all the guests before starting to play the violin. Seeing her smile, the men watching were instantly mesmerized.
The rhythm she played sounded familiar, Mozart? Or Beethoven? I don't know, I'm not a music expert anyway. I took my eyes off the woman and asked Drake.
"Hey, old man. Who is she?"
"You don't know?"
"Nope."
"You must be new here then."
"This is my first."
Drake tipped his bottle of alcohol once before saying.
"She's Miss Rosalia, the daughter of the owner of this place. Or in other words, the daughter of the owner of Rose's Gang. She always performs at this place once a night."
"Is that why you're here? To get a chance with her?"
"Nah, I already have a wife and a daughter. Why don't you try it, kid?"
"Nah, Thanks. I already have 2 wives."
*Cough* *Cough*
Drake choked a little when he heard my answer.
"Are you serious?"
I downed my bottle of alcohol before answering.
"Hell yeah."
Drake shook his head and said.
"You goddamn lucky bastard. By the way....."
Drake downed his bottle of alcohol again before saying.
"How's the plan?"
"I'll discuss it at our meeting place later."
"You said it's 2:30, right?"
"Yep, so let's just enjoy our time until then."
"Good for me, i like alcohol anyway."
"Just like the saying goes, if we're going to die, then we better die while sober."
"We don't have saying like that, but whatever."
After that, we both enjoyed the music until our alcohol ran out.
********
A few hours later, it was almost 1am. That meant we were about to go into action.
"Alright, kid. I'll go prepare my weapons, just call me about the meeting place later. And.... Don't disappoint me."
He warned me not to betray him, huh.
"I won't"
"Then I'll go."
He left immediately after saying that.
Now I'm left alone.
"Waiter, bring me one more alcohol."
After the waiter brought me another bottle of alcohol, I looked around me once more.
Even though it was past midnight, the place still looked quite lively. There were even still people performing on the stage, but this time it was a male band. I could also see some prostitutes taking the customers they seduced to the brothel opposite this place.
This place was indeed suitable for mercenaries or something, they could find all the entertainment they needed in this district.
I downed my alcohol while thinking of what to do next.
I thought about enjoying my time here for about another half hour before contacting Drake about our meeting point. All Drake knew was that we would be robbing pure Soladinium from the warehouse of Space Pirates disguised as Soladinium Miners.
However, my main objective was not the pure Soladinium they had. But my primary objective is an AI Chip that they accidentally stole while hijacking a Cruiser Space Ship from the Lorandra Empire. Although the technology in this world is very modern, intelligent AI that can make its own decisions is still very rare.
That's why I targeted the AI Chip they stole. However, the pirates still didn't know that the Chip they stole was an AI Chip and they regarded it as a worthless item and haven't used it until now. they left it dusty in the warehouse.
If everything is according to my past memories, then this job will become very easy. Besides, I really need that AI Chip so that my Mecha can move and think on its own when I am not controlling it, its combat ability might indeed be worse when I am not controlling it.
But having a Mecha that can move when not in control is a very high advantage on the battlefield, there are only a few Mecha in the entire universe that can move on their own, and they are among the legendary Mecha.
You could say that this AI is one of the protagonist's ace cards because one day he will get it accidentally when he destroys this small organization, but well unfortunately, this time I will get it first.
How could I let this kind of combat power fall into the hands of someone else.
"Oy bastard! What did you just say!?"
"I said, if it wasn't for you our Transport Space Ship wouldn't have been destroyed by those damn Space Priates!"
"What do you mean!? I tried so hard to avoid their fire, you know!?"
In the middle of thinking all that, I heard a commotion. Looking over to where the noise was coming from, I could see two or three drunken mercenaries arguing.
Well, it's none of my business. I quickly got ready to leave, after finishing my alcohol, I then put on the mouth piece of my helmet that I took off to drink and picked up the AR-15 that I had propped up on the table. Just as I stood up, I saw an electrified security baton drifting quickly towards me.
It seemed to be one of the security batons from the security that was trying to stop the drunks, because I felt it drift towards me accidentally, I just caught it and put it on my desk before walking to the cashier's desk to pay for all my drinks.
"Good catch, Sir Pilot."
"Thanks."
"If you'd like, Miss Rosalia would like to apologize about what happened earlier and would like to meet with you in person to apologize."
Who? Well, whatever. I have no time for that.
"No need, I'm in a hurry."
After answering the cashier's question, I quickly headed to the exit and sent the coordinates of our meeting to Drake.
********
The place where I met up with Drake was an abandoned building in the northernmost part of the northern district, you could say that we were now on the beach. Drake and I were watching our target from the roof of the building, I then explained my plan to Drake.
"Old man, you brought what I told you, right?"
"Yeah, 2 bags and a bunch of C4, right?"
"Good, I'll explain the plan then. First of all, did you see the warehouse at the space ship's port?"
"Yeah."
"That's the place they use to store the Soladinium they get from their mining, at least that's what Rose gang thinks. But actually, they never mined anything. They robbed it from the Transport Space Ship of the real miners. They kept a small portion there to trick Rose gang and..."
I then pointed to a small warehouse that was about 1km away, and about 700m away from their main base.
"They store almost all of their loot there, they disguise it as storage for cleaning equipment. Look at it, there's not even a guard there. But don't be fooled, there are actually some people watching the building from inside the building next door."
"Are you sure? That building is too small and looks too plain."
"Thar's what they call hide in plain sight, old man."
"..."
Drake paused for a moment, before asking.
"Son, are you sure that they are really Space Pirates?"
"100%. If you don't believe me, I'll prove it to you later."
"Fine, but if you can't prove it later, I'll shoot you for screwing me over."
"Feel free to do it. Let's not waste anymore time, shall we?"
"Let's go."
We then moved towards the small warehouse, about 10 minutes of walking we ended up in the building right next to the small warehouse. We used the shadow of the building to hide and found the back door to enter.
I looked at Drake to see if he was ready or not, and he nodded. I activated my thermal vision to see if there was anyone behind the door, and I saw someone sitting on a chair near the door.
Seeing as he wasn't moving, it looked like he was asleep. I told Drake to unlock the door, he took out his tools and started working.
A few moments later, he said to me.
"Done."
I went in and looked at the sleeping man, he was fully dressed with a vest and a weapon. There was no mistaking it, he must be a member of this organization.
"Watch our six, old man."
"Copy."
I then walked up to the sleeping man, and stabbed his neck with the Expendable Blade in my right hand. And that's how he fell asleep forever.
"You killed him, kid?"
"Yeah, and this is the proof, old man."
I took off the man's vest and ripped off his shirt to reveal his right chest, Drake then came closer to me and looked at the man's right chest.
"That symbol, Dark Legion."
"Yep, one of the most wanted Space Pirates organizations in the entire universe. This little organization is their little branch on this planet, now you believe me, old man?"
"Yeah."
"Then let's move, according to my thermal vision there are 7 more people."
"You're pilot stuff sure makes it easy."
There were 3 people on the 2nd floor, and 4 people downstairs.
"Old man, I'll clean upstairs and You'll clean the lower floor, how about it?"
"Tell me where they are first."
"1 person is in the room on the left, and 3 people are asleep in the room on the right."
Drake nodded and moved and I also started to move upstairs carefully. The thermal vision in this pilot suit is really useful, I can see the body temperature and even their footprints through the wall.
Although the range is only 30 meters and the walls it penetrates can't penetrate walls that are too thick or solid. But even like this, it's already very useful.
I then arrived in front of the room where the 3 people were, from my thermal vision, It seems like they were looking at the small warehouse with their weapons.
I opened the door to the room slowly, as they came into my firing range. I shot them in the head with my AR15. After making sure they were dead, I called Drake.
"I'm done, Old man."
"I'm done too, I found their surveillance room. Should I turn off the surveillance cameras?"
"Yes, turn them all off and install one C4 downstairs, I'll also install one here."
After installing the C4, we walked straight to the small warehouse. I could see two people inside the small warehouse.
"Old man, there are two people right in front of the door. It looks like they're sleeping."
"Roger."
Drake unlocked the door of the shed like he did before, after the door opened I immediately shot at the two people.
"You really shot them right away, huh?"
"Yeah, it'll be troublesome if we give them time to call someone. Close the door and follow me, old man."
I quickly found the basement entrance with my thermal vision, they had hidden the door in the floor. The door was quite hidden, but I could see it easily using my thermal vision, we opened it and went straight downstairs.
"It's dark, wait here and watch our six. I'll go look for the switch."
After searching for a while, I managed to find the switch and quickly turned on the light.
"Holy shit, you really didn't lie, huh?"
"I told you, didn't I? You won't regret it."
I could see thousands of kilograms of pure, spiral-shaped Soladinium piled up in front of us, it seemed like we hit the jackpot this time.
"Old man, gather as much of that Soladinium as you can into a bag. And give me the C4."
"What do you want with all that C4?"
"Blow up the rest of the Soladinium that we can't bring back."
"You're crazy."
"Come on, you don't want to leave these Space Pirates any money, do you?"
After saying that to Drake and telling him to collect the pure Soladinium into our bags, I then went looking for the main reason I was here under the pretense of installing C4.
I installed 3 C4s on the pile of Soladinium in that place before looking for the AI chip on the shelf on the basement wall, and after about 10 minutes of searching. I managed to find it.
"Finally, with this my main purpose here has been completed."
I quickly put the chip into the belt pouch of my pilot suit. Right after that Drake called me through our intercom.
"Hey, kid. What took you so long, we need to get out of here."
"Okay, I'll be right there."
I returned to Drake's location, and saw that he had filled our bags.
"You're quite fast, old man."
"Cut it out, let's get out of here. They'll realize soon enough."
"Got it."
I took one of the two bags containing the Soladinium and hurriedly left the place. Our return trip was smooth and 10 minutes later, we arrived at the building where we met earlier to check the Soladinium we got.
"Phew.... It was pretty easy, right?"
"Yeah, it gives me goosebumps."
"There are actually three reasons for that, the first is that there is little security in the place because they don't want the three main gangs or the government to realize about the place. Secondly, to them, a small branch like this is not important at all. Third, the guards are amateurs and they can't use guard drones because only large organizations can afford them."
"How do you know all that, son?"
"If I told you I could know the future what would you think?"
"Nonsense."
While chatting like that, we both checked the Soladinium in our own bags.
"So, what about your Soladinium?"
"Good, it's all here."
"I'm the same, just like we planned old man. We will part ways here, and sell our own Soladinium."
"I got it."
"I will contact you again when I have a job."
"I probably won't accept it considering the amount of money I'll get from this job will keep me out of work for a while."
"You'll probably spend that money faster than you think."
I then extended my hand to him, seeing that, Drake also took my hand.
"Nice working with you, old man."
"You too, son."
"Don't forget to blow up the C4."
After that we let go of our handshake, and immediately ran towards different directions. Shortly after I ran, I heard a huge explosion that couldn't have been caused by the C4. It was probably because of the Soladinium left in that small warehouse.
********
About half an hour later, I arrived at the place where I parked my car. I then took off my pilot suit and put it into the trunk of the car along with the weapons and bag of Soladinium i just stole.
Honestly, I didn't expect it to end that easily. I did know that the protagonist slaughtered the organization easily, but that was because he used his Mecha. But well, that's fine.
Because of that, I was able to obtain this AI Chip and could even make a connection with one of the great characters in the future. If my goal was only to steal this Soladinium, then I would have just asked money from my mom.
I was really satisfied with the results this time. I was able to earn money with the Soladinium I stole, increase the combat power of my Mecha, and make a connection with one of the great characters in the future. 3 birds with one stone.
Although what I did might affect the plot of the novel in the future, I didn't care. I didn't know much about the plot of the novel anyway.
After thinking about that, I then accelerated my car so I wouldn't be late getting up tomorrow morning to drive Alicia and Melissa.
