"I'm Zander, and she's Elina," I replied smoothly, keeping my tone neutral.

"Then Zan and Lina it is!" Precila laughed, her voice carrying an irritating cheerfulness that made me want to knock some sense into her.

Why is she so annoying, and why does no one say anything about it?

I glanced at the others. They all wore expressions of resignation, as if they'd long given up on trying to deal with her antics. Hopeless, huh?

"Newbies…" Leo growled, his disdain palpable. The instant our eyes met, I just knew this guy and I were going to have a problem.

"Why didn't we bring more professional adventurers?" he said, his tone dripping with irritation. "This is a C-rank mission, for goodness' sake. What if they can't keep up and end up becoming dead weight?"

It was clear his anger was directed at me, though Elina was getting caught in the crossfire.
