Kapitel 37: Desperation [Edited]

BOOM!

Splatter.

"Haaah!" The young man gasped as icy water seeped into every pore of his body, leaving him trembling. It was dark—too dark to see anything. He strained his eyes, but it was futile. The place was cloaked in utter, pitch-black darkness, devoid of even the faintest touch of sunlight.

"Damn it," he hissed through gritted teeth, forcing his body to move. He didn't know where he was headed, but staying still wasn't an option. He had to find land before the freezing waters claimed him.

"Haah..." Fortunately, his flailing hands found something solid. Gripping it tightly, he dragged himself out of the icy abyss.

"Hah… ha… hah…" He panted, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps. His body was shaking uncontrollably from the cold. He glanced around, but it was still as dark as before. Worse yet, he realized with a sinking feeling that he'd lost his sword in the water.
