Kapitel 14: Chapter 14 – Investigation (Part 1)

Previously at the gas station where the fight between Daemom and the Knight of Famine took place.

About fifteen minutes after Amara took Daemom to the city of Portland, a convoy of SUVs quickly parked around the station. Men and women exited the vehicles, all dressed in black pants, white shirts, and simple black ties. Each one held an object resembling a crystal ball.

They positioned themselves strategically, making specific hand seals with their free hands. They began to chant what sounded like a prayer in Latin, and a sacred and serene atmosphere spread across the area.

"O Ange Ruber, dominus finium et protector innocentium, peto ut nos gratia tua in hoc momento necessitatis comiteris." X9.

Soon, an invisible wave of energy connected the crystal balls in each agent's hands, and a sudden light shone.

A curtain of light formed around the station, and the crystal balls began to float in the air without the need for the agents' help.

The entire curtain of light not only helped block the influence of the demonic aura in the area but also purified the environment, allowing the location to be used normally after a certain period.

Descending from one of the SUVs, a tall woman with long, straight black hair, dressed in the same attire as the other agents, spoke to the young man beside her. "Block the road, let no one pass until further notice."

"Yes, Special Executor!" The young man struck his chest with force and responded loudly, like a soldier addressing his superior.

Cristine nodded and looked at the gas station. She removed her sunglasses, revealing her black eyes, and frowned deeply. Even from a distance, she could smell the putrid stench of rot and sulfur. It was the first time she had encountered such a strong odor at a site of demonic possession.

"How are we?" Cristine asked directly to the elderly man approaching her. He was the most experienced Sensor of the Great Order, decorated numerous times for his bravery in fighting possessions and other supernatural creatures. He was the most recommended by the Order in a Code Red situation.

The elderly man, around seventy years old, with completely gray hair, looked at the gas station with his blind eyes, which were blue with rugged tones. He widened his eyes at what he was seeing at that moment.

He whispered in a heavy, hoarse voice, "In my seventy years working for the Order, I've never witnessed such a large amount of demonic energy."

To his "eyes," the entire area was covered by a layer of three different demonic auras – yellow, red, and crimson. The first was the most powerful he had ever seen in his life, while the last, although in smaller quantity, was the most terrifying, even more so than the yellow aura.

So terrifying that he seemed to see souls burning in eternal agony from that crimson aura. Even he, a veteran of all kinds of scenes, couldn't help but feel a shiver run down his spine.

He looked confusedly at the gas station for a moment, pondered for some time, and when he responded, his voice was tinged with a touch of uncertainty and surprise. "I detected different demonic auras, an extremely powerful demonic energy, so powerful I've never seen anything like it before, and two others that aren't as strong."

"Are you saying demons fought at this place?" Cristine asked, her expression showing clear surprise. It was really rare for such a fight to occur; as far as she could remember, the last one was between two demons fighting over a soul in New York about thirty years ago.

During that fight, the entire block was transformed into what looked like a battlefield full of craters. The death toll reached a staggering two thousand lives. In comparison, this gas station incident was considered peaceful so far, despite being a code red.

Cristine frowned even more, thinking that things had gotten even more complicated. According to the information received, Marcus Mora – a Second Order Executor – was transporting a new student to Brighton Hall Boarding School on the orders of Vice-Principal Evelyn Grace when he was ambushed and reported a code red.

This meant that at least three demons attacked Marcus Mora, and for some reason, the demons began fighting among themselves.

As for why the demons fought each other, Cristine guessed that the demons sent were from different organizations trying to kidnap the young man Marcus Mora was protecting. No one wanted to return empty-handed, so they started fighting.

This was at least the plausible scenario she could think of at the moment.

"Those damn cultists, conspiring with demons," Cristine gritted her teeth in anger thinking about it. What she hated most were these types of human scum who sold their souls to demons.

Taking a pack of cigarettes from her pocket and lighting one with a lighter, Cristine held the cigarette between her fingers and blew a cloud of smoke from her lips, speaking coldly.

"Let's go in. I just hope things aren't too ugly inside."

Xavier nodded slightly and followed the Special-Order Executor.

Following behind her, the old man couldn't help but feel shocked by the intensity of the aura emanating from the twenty-six-year-old. She was indeed the youngest Special-Order Executor in the entire Great Order.

Cristine Miller.

Entering the convenience store, the first thing Cristine noticed was the car inside the establishment. She recognized the vehicle; it was used by the Order for secret missions and had extremely strong armor, but despite this, there was a grotesque dent in the car door, showing just how powerful the attack had been.

She looked at the blood spattered around and quickly located the body she presumed to be Marcus Mora. Half of the man seemed to be in good condition, but the other half, she couldn't say the same. Mainly because it was separated from the main body and scattered on the ground along with organs and the other half of his face.

Soon, Cristine noticed the signs of decomposition on the half of the body on the ground and frowned. Her eyes then fell on the decomposing cow carcass and noted the missing limb of the animal.

"Decomposition…" A trace of suspicion flashed in her eyes upon seeing this.

When she returned to Headquarters, she would check which demon had an aura of this type. It was definitely not an ordinary, nameless demon that could possess such power.

"He tried to fight, but it was useless; the enemy was too strong. He died trying to protect the young man he was tasked with bringing. The Great Order lost a good agent," Xavier said, looking at the body with his completely blind eyes. His voice carried a trace of respect and reverence. Not everyone could sacrifice themselves for their mission, but Marcus Mora was one of those respectable men.

"No sign of the boy?" Cristine asked, her voice tinged with coldness, looking around.

Xavier looked around and was confused; he saw no human aura in this place, except for an unconscious young man behind the counter. Turning to look at the car, Xavier's aged face turned somber in an instant.

Marcus's aura was present in the car, but there was no human aura in the car, as if it had never been there in the first place. This was the most surprising thing!

In Xavier's experienced mind, the demon successfully kidnapped the young man and covered his aura so it couldn't be tracked by any medium or witch.

"They covered the boy's aura; I detect no human aura besides the unconscious young man behind the counter. The boy Marcus was protecting has had his body taken by now." Shaking his head, Xavier replied to Cristine. His voice was tinged with a touch of regret; the boy definitely had great talent for three evil organizations to orchestrate such a massive attack. After all, controlling demons was not an easy task.

Suddenly, Xavier's blind eyes fell on the scorched image on the floor. It was the image of a man with bat wings on his back. A characteristic only a high-ranking demon from Hell possessed.

His eyes widened at what he was seeing.

He had been mistaken. It wasn't a fight between demons that occurred here, but a damned exorcism of none other than a high-level demon from Hell!

"Executor!" Xavier shouted, and in the next moment, Cristine appeared beside him at a speed simply inconceivable for a common human.

Without saying anything, the old man pointed to the scorched image on the floor of the man.

Cristine followed his gaze, and her eyes narrowed.

The exorcism that shook the entire west coast of the United States had happened in this place!
