No, yeah.
No. Not this one.
When I woke up, it was an abandoned castle.
I was asleep, or something like that, like I'd been unconscious for a while. I was awake, not in a futon, but on a reasonably nice chair. It was tattered. I tried to remember when I sat here, thinking "I don't remember sleeping here," but I couldn't remember. But I felt like, What happened to a given? What is a given? Sitting in what must have once been a tremendously expensive raggedy chair in a large, empty room, I wondered what a given was.
"What do you mean?"
The voice came out on its own.
My fuzzy head felt a little clearer, but at least I had no idea where I was now. I don't think I'd fall asleep in a place like this. If I'm going to fall asleep, at least I'll have to go to ...
"Aye!"
I felt a throbbing pain in my head. I felt something that was starting to come together disappear somewhere. A little annoyed, I look at the front door. This distance, this size, it's like an audience room, I think. I wonder what's going on outside that door.
'Well.'
I stand up slowly. The dust dances. I don't feel like I've been snoozing or anything, this isn't like that. I take a couple of steps forward. All sorts of things fall and dust dances. My body is slow, but light. I look down fearfully.
"What is this?
I was screaming. You were shouting. That's called screaming.
Bones, basically. Skeletons, so to speak. With a little rag clinging to it. That was my body. How long have you been a sleeper? What a taro! What kind of sleeping style would cause this to happen?
"Well, I can't help but think about it."
I can walk for now. Let's go to the door and open it. Let's look outside and then think about it. I reach out in front of the door. I'm freaked out when I see a hand with only bones ... No, of course not, but I'm not prepared for it.
'That's a bone, isn't it ...?'
The sigh I thought I'd put on was probably nothing in fact. I haven't checked it yet, but I guess the face is bone too. If this was just fresh meat on the face, that would be weird.
I regain my composure and put my hand against the door. The heavy door opened more easily than I expected.
I'll just have to look around the castle first.
