54.54% I'm Lord Farquaad....Damn it! / Chapter 18: Chapter 18: War of the Duchies II

Kapitel 18: Chapter 18: War of the Duchies II

3rd Pov

It's been 5 days since the Lordship of Duloc's invasion against the Duchies began, in the city that is the capital of Baron Marcus Di Maria's Fiefdom, more specifically in his castle, we can see the Feudal Lord relaxing in his personal gardens, drinking some tea while listening to the birds sing.

He finally had a day to rest from the paperwork, as everything was going as usual, with him receiving letters from his Fortress that said how everything was going well and that order was being maintained, so he decided to take a day of the week to enjoy a good tea before returning to work.

"My love, the servants said that lunch is ready" Said a woman as she approached Marcus, with her being at most in her 30s, having black hair with red tips, impeccable skin, having blue eyes, and wearing noble blue clothes with golden touches.

"Ah~ Elizabeth, my dear, thank you for informing me" Marcus said with a smile on his face, as he finished his tea before going to Elizabeth and kissing her on the lips, kissing his wife with love and affection.

"How is the baby?" Marcus asked as he walked with Elizabeth to the Dining Hall, passing through some corridors.

"She's fine, she's sleeping now after being breastfed" Elizabeth said as she held one of Marcus' arms, with great affection.

The couple had loving smiles on their faces, little knowing about the storm that was forming far from the walls of the Castle and their city.

Barncowl Fortress

In Barncowl Fortress things were serious for everyone involved, with several soldiers in armor protecting themselves on the walls, not daring to get up so as not to be targeted by the troops that were far from the Fortress that was surrounded.

It has been 2 days since Duloc's troops surrounded the Fortress, not allowing anyone to dare to leave alive, at least until they raised the white flag and put aside all their weapons.

But since they hadn't done that yet, Duloc's soldiers kept their muskets ready for target practice, and the soldiers who were former hunters kept an eye out in case someone from the Fortress sent a messenger bird.

The commander of the siege is a man of average height, blond hair, and green eyes, wearing a Prussian officer's uniform, with his Pickelhaube containing the Austrian Double-Headed Eagle, he was in his tent talking to other officers.

"The Fortress will not fall easily, they have supplies to last a long time, but we don't have time to waste on this Scum, we need to find a way to take the fortress so we can continue advancing!" Said the commander as he banged his fist on the table, with the other officers nodding seriously.

"We should have built catapults, we could have thrown rocks at those damned people or even corpses to create a small plague among them...." Said an officer as he sighed in anger, knowing that they were idiots for not having this prepared when they started the siege.

"Yeah, but now it would take too long to build, so we need another plan....hmmm....I have an idea...but it could go wrong" Said another officer in a thoughtful pose as he raised a hand so that the Commander could pay attention to him.

"Well, tell me, any idea is better than none" Said the commander seriously.

"We could simulate an attack on the Fortress, then, using our most sneaky soldiers, we could make them enter the Enemy fortification by surprise and hide there, at least until the dead of night, where they could open the gates for us, and then we could invade with everything" Said the officer after thinking for a while, the plan was crazy, but if it worked they could be able to take the Fortress quickly.

The other officers raised an eyebrow at this, with the Commander thinking seriously as he looked at the map of the region before raising his head and looking at everyone in the tent.

"Start by analyzing the wall that has the least guard and when it is weakest, after that we will make a simulated attack on a wall while the sneakiest soldiers will go to the wall that is least guarded and begin an operation" Said the commander as he looked at the officers, who nodded before saluting.

Meanwhile, outside, some soldiers were keeping an eye on a wall of the Fortress, with their muskets loaded.

"So Mark, I doubt you will be able to hit the first bird of the day that leaves the fortress on the first shot" Said a soldier with blue eyes and blond hair, with a mischievous smile on his face.

"Are you challenging me, Hans?" Mark asked seriously as he held his musket tightly, almost feeling insulted.

"You are damn right" Hans said as he continued to look at Mark with a mischievous smile, which only infuriated him.

"Whatever!" Mark said as he looked at the tower of the Fortress where messenger birds usually came out after all the birds needed height to be able to fly properly.

After about 5 minutes they could see a pigeon leaving the tower, Hans and Mark could notice that it was carrying something with it, Mark then wasted no time and pointed his musket where the pigeon would fly past, he then took a deep breath before pulling the trigger, with smoke coming out of the tip of the gun.

Hans kept an eye on the pigeon, which began to fall, he then clicked his tongue in irritation knowing that he had lost.

"Damn it" Hans said angrily.

"HA! I win!" Mark said as he raised his musket, holding it with both hands and letting out a mix of laughter and growl, which scared Hans.

"In the name of Lord von Farquaad, Mark...what the fuck?" Hans asked, scared.

While the pair had this interaction and the officers' plans for Barncowl Fortress would begin after a while, on the Gisla Front the situation was extremely different.

We can see the Dulocian Cavalry advancing against the infantry forces of Baron George Vasgi, who was leading troops to defend his Fiefdom that had recently learned was being invaded by Duloc.

Unfortunately, by the time he learned of this, the Fortress that his family had invested so much in for generations had already fallen to Duloc, with the Dulocian officers then beginning an all-out offensive against him to quickly take the Fiefdom before waiting for new orders to continue invading the Duchy of Gisla.

"Order the Cavalry to charge those bastards! We need to make sure the Enemy Cavalry doesn't run away or we'll be in trouble!" George ordered his Commanders as he watched his infantry, which were mostly militiamen from the capital city of his Fief, slowly crumble.

"Mi'lord! The rest of the Dulocians are advancing!" Said a Commander as he pointed at the Dulocian infantry, who were marching slowly before they stopped and pointed their muskets forward, with the Dulocian cavalry unfortunately managing to flee.

"FIRE!" Shouted a Dulocian Officer to the firing lines, with the Dulocian soldiers pulling their triggers, smoke coming out of their muskets as piles of bodies of Baron George's soldiers began to fall to the ground, with the corpses having several holes in their bodies.

The soldiers then crouched down, with the others behind them pointing their muskets forward and firing as well before they were ordered to fix bayonets and advance, with the soldiers then giving their war cries as they advanced on what was left of Baron George's infantry, who tried to flee.

"No no no no no...." Baron George could not believe his eyes, he was seeing all his infantry being exterminated, with the archers further away now being hunted by the enemy cavalry, there was nothing else he could do... he was clearly going to lose.

"Mi'lord! We need to get you out of here, your safety is more-" Just as a commander was about to order the Feudal Lord to be protected, he suddenly gets shot in the head, causing him to fall from the horse he was riding, in the distance the Dulocian Cavalry could be seen approaching the position George Vasgi was on.

"Capture the Lord alive!" A Dulocian soldier shouted in German as he pointed his saber forward, his face showing complete seriousness.

The Commanders, seeing the situation they were in, drew their swords and prepared for combat, while George Vasgi turned his horse so he could flee to his city, which would be a futile effort, after all the cavalry would follow him no matter what.
