"Professor, may I ask a small favor?"
After leaving the wand shop, Dumbledore originally intended to take the two students straight back to Hogwarts. Cassandra had already purchased all her school supplies in America, which she carried in her handbag, also enchanted with an Extension Charm.
But before they could leave, Kael suddenly spoke up.
"Of course, go ahead, child. What do you need my help with?"
"Well, Professor, I have some adorable magical creatures, just like the Eevees. I had to leave them at home because of school, but if it's possible…"
"Could I bring them to school? Don't worry, I'll take good care of them."
"Well, although this is against the school rules, just make sure no other students see them," Dumbledore replied. "And I suppose I could pay your home a visit as well!"
Dumbledore's attitude toward Kael was clear: do whatever it takes to nurture and support him.
Kael's talent was simply too astonishing—even surpassing Dumbledore's own abilities at his age. Reflecting on what he had been doing at Kael's age, Dumbledore even entertained the thought of grooming Kael as a potential successor.
Besides, they were just a few cute pets, like Eevee…
In Dumbledore's eyes, these two Eevees were far better-behaved than Kael himself.
"Professor, I knew you'd say yes!"
"To be honest, you're the best teacher I've ever met. If I'd known you were this understanding, I would've brought them at the start of the school year," Kael said, handing Dumbledore a genuine compliment.
"But we have to agree on one thing—your pets cannot disrupt the order of the school," Dumbledore cautioned with a smile.
Kael gave an enthusiastic nod, assuring, "Don't worry!"
With that, the group headed toward Knockturn Alley.
"Are these magical creatures really called Eevee they look just like Kneazles? And They seem… just average," Cassandra remarked as she walked beside Kael, curiously observing the two Eevees.
She had noticed them earlier but had been too proud to say anything.
Kael laughed inwardly. He wondered who was more prideful, Cassandra or Snape? Probably Snape, given his three decades of perfecting his aloof demeanor.
"Would you like to pet them? They're very well-behaved and won't bite," Kael offered.
"I have two Kneazles at home—they're quite adorable too. But if you insist on letting me pet them…"
"Never mind, I would never force someone to do anything," Kael interrupted with a grin before she could finish.
His words nearly made Cassandra explode with anger.
[Ding! Detecting frustration!]
[Ding! Drawing a treasure box for the host!]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for receiving a Golden Treasure Box!]
Wow, Cassandra didn't disappoint. A golden treasure box just from being upset—what a rare find!
"But if you do want to pet them, it'll be 10 Galleons for a minute," Kael teased.
Cassandra: "???"
[Ding! Detecting frustration!]
[Ding! Drawing a treasure box for the host!]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for receiving a Silver Treasure Box!]
…
Seeing Cassandra turn away angrily, Kael chuckled and patted the two Eevees on his shoulder. One of them, Espeon, immediately leaped into Cassandra's arms, while Umbreon landed gracefully on her shoulder.
"Hmph, who cares about your Kneazles!" she huffed. (T/N: She is calling them Kneazles instead of eevee and is being tsundere)
[Ding! Detecting joy!]
[Ding! Drawing a treasure box for the host!]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for receiving a Diamond Treasure Box!]
Well, there it was—classic Cassandra! She was clearly thrilled enough to earn a diamond treasure box, yet still couldn't admit it.
Dumbledore, watching the playful exchange from behind, smiled warmly. Their conversation reminded him of the joys of youth.
There was just one thing he didn't quite understand—why would anyone want to flirt with a girl? (T/N: For anyone who didn't understand the author is making fun of him being gay)
…
"Professor, welcome to Knockturn Alley!" Kael announced. "My home is just a short walk ahead."
Knockturn Alley and Diagon Alley were separated by only a single wall, connected by a narrow pathway.
Crossing this path, they arrived in Knockturn Alley.
Unlike the bustling Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley was narrow, damp, and dark, with little sunlight ever reaching its streets. The atmosphere was oppressive, eerie, and terrifying.
The witches and wizards wandering the alley mostly wore black cloaks with their faces hidden beneath hoods, many of them having cast spells to obscure their identities.
"You live in a place like this?" Cassandra asked in surprise. "My father told me Knockturn Alley is one of the largest gathering places for dark wizards in all of Europe."
Cassandra clearly hadn't expected Kael's home to be in such a place. Despite being just a wall away from Diagon Alley, it was a completely different world.
She had heard the rumors—Knockturn Alley was the hub of dark wizards, where crime and murder reigned supreme. Even the Ministry of Magic's Aurors rarely dared to venture here.
And now, the thought that Kael, a boy her age, had been living here for years was shocking.
Suddenly, her heart filled with sympathy for him.
