How can I save the world if I'm no longer the hero?

The Demon Lord has won. The Chosen are dead. The gods are cut off from the world. The Hero, despite everything, has fallen. The world is doomed and can no longer be saved. However, there is still a small hope. While what has happened cannot be fixed, it can hopefully be stopped from ever happening in the first place. The hero is granted another try to set things right, with just a few changes to their story.

Again and again the hero tries, living through life after life, struggling against what they believe to be impossible odds. In a final desperate gamble they give up everything they ere, the title of hero, their powers and their birthright to be given a new chance with the knowledge of all of their failures at their fingertips.

But if the Hero of Legend with all of their divine abilities can’t save the world, how can a little girl?
