Kapitel 135: Impending Doom

(Third Person POV)

[King's Landing]

"What?!" Otto exclaimed, "What do you mean he's injured?! Where is he?! Where is the King?!"

He was in the Small Council room when the Grand Maester walked in, informing them that Aegon had just been brought in from the Vale. He had suffered serious injuries, rendered unconscious due to the pain.

News had just reached King's Landing of Prince Jaecaerys and Princess Rhaenys's death but they were unaware of Aegon's condition until now.

"He's currently in his chambers, I worked quite fast..." Grand Maester said, "Fortunately, he was brought in on dragonback, Lord Hand. I was able to tend to his wounds right away...."

Otto looked at him, "Dragonback? Was it Aemond? Daeron?"

"No." Orwyle said, "A man with no relation to our army, from what I can tell. He claimed he was a Targaryen bastard that the King himself recruited."

"A bastard?" Alicent said as she stood and walked over, "And Aegon recruited him?"

"It is uncharacteristic of him." Otto said, "Is he going to be alright?"

"He should, but his....legs are severely injured..." Orwyle said

"I will go and see him..." Alicent said as she walked past Orwyle

Otto looked at him, "But he will live, am I right to assume that?"

"He is breathing." Orwyle said, "I have him on Milk of The Poppy, so he'll be disoriented."

Otto turned around, "I have no idea what will become of us now...." He said, "Jaecaerys and Rhaenys are dead. Rhaenyra and Aerion will not take this lightly....."

"One would hope that Aerion will not let go of his virtues..." Orwyle said, "That way, Aemond and Daeron will not suffer the vengeance...."

"I am afraid that when it comes to War, Aerion will become an unrecognizable monster." Otto said, "He is no longer the boy who clung to his mother's leg. He has become different. I've seen it, seen him change. The look in his eye was different, ever since marrying Rhaenyra...all he needs is a push....His pleading to Aemond to mend the rift was merely him giving us a chance...Aerion was never afraid of him...of us..."

"Lord Hand?" Orwyle said

Otto sighed, "Viserys should've married him to Helaena...." He said softly, "Perhaps all of this could've been avoided....but I am afraid we have to see it through....Fire and Blood....nobody embodies that like an angered Dragonlord...."

"R-Right..." Orwyle said

"Cole and Gwayne are leading their forces to the eastern side of the Riverlands. Sending this bastard to go aid them will be ideal." Otto said, "Aemond and Daeron will have to take the fight to Daemon rather quickly. Once Aerion gains momentum like that Bloody Day, it will not go in our favor."

Orwyle nodded, "That would be wise."

"I will go myself to treat with Daemon, perhaps striking a deal with him could help us." Otto said, "It might be foolish, yes, but it is worth a try. With Rhaenyra now distraught, he could be persuaded to oppose them."

"That is a rather risky move. Daemon will not oppose his son." Orwyle said

"Right." Otto said, "But something tells me he's not doing this for him."

[The Neck]

"I...." Daeron said, "I come in peace!"

He stood in front of Tessarion who shook her head, growling deeply. The two of them were before a massive group of Northerners that had their bows drawn and aiming at him. He was holding onto Visenya who was wrapped in blankets.

Daeron panted slightly, the cold of the incoming Winter was making his breath visible. He looked all around him, he was surrounded by many northerner archers who didn't seem like they were about to lower their bows.

"What is the enemy Prince doing around these parts?" an old man said as he stepped forth, "Other than scouting for his forces?"

"Lower your weapons, I mean no harm." Daeron said

"I think not." The Old Man said, "You are a Dragonrider. We may die if we strike you down, but your dragon will have no guide to destroy our allies in the future."

Daeron scowled, "If you let loose the arrows, you'll not only kill me, but her." Daeron said, "And this is not just any little girl! This is Princess Visenya Targaryen! Daughter of Rhaenyra and Aerion Targaryen! Tell me, do you wish to incur the wrath of Aerion by killing his daughter?!"

Daeron removed the blanket from Visenya's head, who closed her eyes due to the cold, she moved her face towards Daeron's chest.

The Old Man widened his eyes, "By the gods....there is no other young girl with white hair and purple eyes...." He said, "Lower your bows, you fools!"

The Northerners lowered their weapons reluctantly as Daeron nodded.

"Thank you." Daeron said, "Listen, I didn't come here to fight. I know that I may have already gone too far, and killed many men that are on your side. But I didn't sign up to be responsible for my niece's death. Rhaenyra sent for her to be safeguarded in Winterfell. I made a vow to Aerion. I will not let any harm to any of his children. You are Northerners, you can understand."

"Is that so?" the old man said, "Well, that may be true...."

"I-If you go a bit down south.....you'll find the remains of Prince Lucerys's dragon...." Daeron said, "I.....he was killed unjustly by my own men. I did not tolerate their actions so I executed them myself. I will personally take his body to the Riverlands and hand it to Daemon....that is the furthest I can go without my own Brother chasing me down. He wouldn't care about remains. But.....this War is not safe for a little girl like Visenya...."

"I understand." the man said, "So...you've brought her to us?"

"I can't venture too far North..." Daeron said, "If I do so, I will more than likely bring Vhagar with me following my rear.....I know the kind of man Aemond is. I.....tell Lord Stark that whatever happens, I did not kill Lucerys! I have already sealed my fate by partaking in this War. I just made the mistake of choosing the wrong side."

The Old Man slowly walked over to him, "Very well." He said, "Lord Stark did inform us that he'd safeguard the Princess. Give her to us, I'll make sure she arrives at Winterfell safe."

Daeron hesitated, "W-Well, I need your word that..." He said

"Worry not." the man said, "If anyone dares to touch a hair on her head, I'll personally kill them. I give you my word, she'll get there safe at any cost."

Daeron nodded, "R-Right..." He said, "What is your name?"

"Roderik Dustin." the man said

"Roderik Dustin, I entrust my niece to you...." Daeron said

"U-Uncle?" Visenya looked up at Daeron, "Where am I going?"

"This man will be your caretaker now." Daeron gave her a smile, "He'll take you to Winterfell where you'll be safe."

"I want my brother...." Visenya said

Daeron gulped, "I-I'm sorry, Visenya....Lucerys is gone...." He said as he held back tears, "I'm sorry...."

Daeron slowly handed Visenya over to Roderik who nodded and held the Princess in his hands.

"I...." Daeron said shakily

"Worry not." Roderik said, "You did the right thing, Prince Daeron. We will not forget this. The North will remember this action."

Daeron nodded, "R-Right....."

"Come, Princess." Roderik turned around and began to walk away, "It is a long ride back to Winterfell...."

Daeron saw as Visenya looked at him, her eyes widened and filled with tears.

"Uncle Daeron!" She cried out as she reached her hand out

Daeron smiled, "It's okay, Visenya..." He said as he waved her away,

"It will be okay."
