--Pov Rodney--
I clucked around the dorm room I was trapped in. It was a nice room, and the humans that looked after me were fine people, giving me scratches and letting me nestle with them at night for warmth, but they left all day, only returning at night, so I was bored.
So, as I strutted around the room looking for insects, I was surprised when I found the door open. "Freedom!" I clucked and charged out the door. Now I was standing in a corridor, and seeing that there was light at the end of it, I waddled my way down there. I entered a large room with a warm fire and bouncy leather couches; I started to explore, bouncing on the couches and looking for more bugs. At one point, I got onto a table and knocked over the water dish; why they had put it so high and in a large container that I couldn't reach the opening was beyond me, but I am a smart rooster, so I knocked it over to quench my thirst.
Eventually, I got bored with my exploration, so I sat on a chair near the fire. It was nice and warm. A strange creature popped into the room. I've seen them before in the dorm room; the little grey creature was cleaning up the water spill. 'so what, I have to knock it over again?' I thought to myself, 'Is it a test'. I decided to get some sleep and nestle into the bouncy chair.
A commotion woke me up; humans, many humans had come into the room, spreading out, sitting on the bouncy chairs and opening up books. They were talking loudly. One of the humans found me, a small female with brown hair; she looked at me oddly and made some noise. Looking at her, I figured she wanted my spot, 'nope not going to happen.' I fluffed myself to take up more space and clucked, "No space; go find somewhere else." the girl made noise towards the rest of the room.
This caused more commotion, and I couldn't return to sleep; more humans came to look at me. I stood up and shook myself, fluffing out my feathers. Some of the humans stood back when I did that. "Why have you woken me, humans?" I clucked at them.
The humans made noises between themselves. The first girl reached out to grab me. "Stay your hands, human." I clucked and jumped back onto the armrest. "The likes will not manhandle me." she made soft noises at me and went to grab me again. "Not today, not tomorrow, not ever!" I clucked proudly and jumped and ran away.
This action caused more commotion; the humans were making even more noises loud shrieking noises, especially the blonde boy who I jumped on. Many humans tried to grab me, but I was too quick for these slow, dimwitted humans, and I led them on a merry chase. Under tables across chairs, it seemed the humans were obsessed with catching my magnificents. I was having so much fun, watching the humans fall about themselves in their vain attempts to catch one such as great as me.
I noticed some of the taller humans had drawn their sticks. I had seen my humans use these sticks to do fantastic things. In fact, I was quite scared of the sticks, so it was time to make my escape. I fled in the direction the humans were entering the room. Dodging past some frightened girls, I leapt through an opening in the wall and found myself somewhere damp and cold; I turned to return the way I once come to find a solid wall.
My only path was up out of this cold, unfriendly place, so that's what I did, hopping up the stairs into a warmer part of the building I was in. I believed I was in the large stone coop on top of the hill, where the humans lived. I didn't like this place; sometimes, the older hens would be brought up here, never to return, and many eggs were taken here.
I clucked a curse at my bad luck, but I will never show fear. It was getting late in the day. My humans would be arriving back soon, so for now, I would wait. I walked around a bit and found some bugs to eat; all that running had made me hungry. Then I spotted it, red eyes staring at me, tail swishing back and forth behind the most evil creature. "Back, you foul beast", I crowed, Puffing myself up, my sharp talons raised to the creature.
"you should not be wandering my castle, Prey," said the creature in a feminine voice. "my master won't care if I just eat you", the creature pounced. I lashed out with a talon, hitting the creature on the head. With that leverage, I shot myself over the creature and ran away, clucking at the creature.
"I am No one's prey; I am the great warrior, Rodney!" I yelled at the creature as I ran down the halls of the castle, wings flapping.
--Pov Eddie--
A few nights before Halloween, my friends and I returned to the Slytherin Common Room after a long day of class and then study group to find it a mess. Tables and chairs are knocked over, water and fruit are scattered to the four corners, and books are left on the ground. People were gathered, yelling at each other.
"What happened?" said Grant as we looked upon the scene.
"I have no idea?" I said, utterly confused.
"but who let it in?" I heard Draco yell at a first-year brown-haired girl who was staring angrily at him.
"I don't know, he was just sitting on a chair near the fire", The first-year girl yelled back.
"See, she said he! Obviously, she knows more about that creature," Draco yelled to the crowd.
"it was a Bloody Rooster. Of course, it's a he", The first-year girl yelled back. And the bottom of my stomach had fallen out.
"oh no," I said with worry.
"Oh my," said Grant with concern.
"Huh?" said Tim with confusion.
Grant and I looked at him with odd looks; we could see the wheels turning in his head, and then he yelled, "Rodney!". This made the crowd of Slytherins look at us. Grant and I facepalmed ourselves.
"Rodney?" asked Draco with an evil glare.
"the answer to a joke", I said. "What you call a bloke who can't bend his leg?" I said smoothly, "Rod Knee. Get it." everyone looked at me like I was insane, but the brown-haired girl burst out laughing, and I saw Daphne hiding a chuckle behind her hand. "so what happened here?"
"A rooster was in the Common Room," a Slytherin boy said.
"so how did everything get trashed?" Tim asked, trying to keep a straight face.
"We were trying to catch it," another said.
"so where did it go?" I asked.
"escaped into the castle", the brown-haired girl said. "Luckily, before the older students could harm it", she was glaring at Malfoy again.
"the rutty bird attacked me", Draco said. "It should be killed and served to me for dinner."
"wow," I said in mocked shock. "Draco was defeated by a chicken", I tried to hold my smirk. "oh! I think I left my textbook in the study room," I said with a slap to the forehead. Calmly, I left the Common Room; once outside, I started to look for my feathered friend frantically.
