100% Hidden identity: The serial killer / Chapter 18: the reporter

Kapitel 18: the reporter

Lin Jane stepped her head slightly to the right as she sat calmly on her office chair, she worked for Lingard newspaper company, she was one of their most valuable assets.

Mr Raymond the owner of Lingard had risen to the top of the Pyramid because Lin Jane had first-hand information on the news no one knew about but she.

He had asked her many times but shed always say the same thing

"Diligence pays, take the risk and get the news" whatever she meant by that it was working quite well for her therefore it didn't matter, as long as the news were true.

She had chosen Lingard for a reason even though they were of the odd impression that they had chosen her, the paper always told the truth, no matter how difficult it was.

Mr Raymond was indeed a stubborn man. he had been attacked severally by angry elites who were defamed due to the exposure of their corrupt activities by Lingard.

"Jane!" Mr Raymond called loudly. Jane jerked up on her feet immediately, Mr Raymond had startled her, he was fond of that.

"what are you thinking? it doesn't matter you have work" he uttered with his British accent along with a wide grin on his face.

That was classic Mr Raymond even tho he held a high position in the company, he always behaved like a clown. no one had any idea why he'd do that but he was no fool.

He knew exactly what he was doing. only Lin Jane knew that, and that was also because she wasn't just any reporter, she had training.

"you have a scheduled meeting with the detectives," he said blankly,

"Other bosses would probably have summoned their employees to their office but here he was coming to her personally in her office to tell her this, how admirable," she thought and smiled slightly.

Just when she thought her slight smile had to give unnoticed...

"was that funny?" Mr Raymond asked with a questioned look on his face.

"not at all Sir" she responded as her face transformed right before his eyes. she had a completely expressionless face this time.

"I could have sworn you laughed just a few seconds ago," he said in amusement

"how do you do it? "

"do what sir?"

"Change personality," he said intently gazing at her

this time her heart skipped a bit

"he doesn't know Lin Jane, keep calm and compose yourself, he doesn't know," she repeated these words in her head.

Mr Raymond sensed she was tensed because he said to change his personality.

He then laughed a bit...

"Tsk...look at you, I meant how you manage to change facial expressions in a whiff, put up an act?"

"ohhhh I see now," she said as she heaved a huge sigh of relief.

"Reporters must be good actors I guess" she responded with a tiny smile on her face.

"what are you going to do about the detectives?"

"They want to talk, I'll give them a conversation"

"They want to know when you'll be free so they can take some time out to come to see you. You're becoming quite popular little girl just be careful" he said as he slightly touched the back of her hand placed on the computer desk.

"you have no idea how much danger I put myself in daily," she said to herself.

"okay tell them I'll be free by 2 pm, we can grab a bite at 'Leen Bistro,'"

that was the name of the small restaurant her father was in charge of at the moment.

She wanted to make sure no one suspected her in any way. she wanted them to have only the information she was willing to give, she knew how promiscuous detectives could be and she was willing to avert that as much as possible.

Lin Jane was a field reporter and she got little whispers from time to time. her main goal as a Journalist and reporter were to find dirt on corrupt people, not every corrupt elite were as influential as Mr Brown hence it wasn't difficult to get dirt on them that could destroy them.

recently, she had directed her attention to senator Jimmy Carter a rumour had gone out that he was involved in the molestation and trafficking of little girls, which he denied. Given his position, it was quite easy to destroy the evidence the reporter who reported his case had found. he had a press conference today at 11 am inside the presidential building and Lin Jane was assigned to attend to get a report. it was past 10 am already.

"Lin Jane, remember you have a press conference to attend by 11 am with regards to the senator's accusations." Joe, the editor of Lingard newspaper informed.

"oh yeah thanks!" she said snapping out if her deep thoughts.

I better get going, I wouldn't want to miss the fun. If every reporter In the city was clueless, Lin Jane wasn't, all she needed was another evidence and given her strong connections to the underground world she could easily get the information.

"Alright, let's go find the truth"
