I slowly nod my head as I struggle not to cry. Don't get me wrong, they're angry tears! Harries calls the firemen back and allows Kian to do his thing but after thirty minutes of him fighting with it, it flares up and nearly burns him.
He clenches his teeth and walks back over to me saying "It's no use. It won't stop until the demon who cast it, calls it back." I grit my teeth and continue to watch the flames in silent rage. Their souls will be trapped in there... they won't be able to leave because of the demon flames... it could even hurt them!
Harris looks at Kian and asks "Who the hell are you again?" Kian hooks his thumb to me and says "I'm with her. The name's Kian." Harris looks to me for confirmation but I can't take my eyes off the flames.
Harris turns back to Kian and says "How do you know so much about this?" Kian gives Harris an eerie smile and lets some of his demonic power seep off him as he says "Any more questions?" Harris quickly jumps back, his hand flies down to the gun on his hip as I quickly say "Harris... he's with me."
Harris looks to me with a worried look before looking back to Kian and saying "You're hanging out with demons now? What the hell, Hallows!?" I cut my eyes over to him, feeling them flash with my inner beast as I say "His name is Kian, Harris. Do you see more?"
Harris hesitates a few more seconds before letting out a large sigh and saying "I never know what to do with you Hallows." He looks back to Kian and awkwardly nods at him before asking "What are we supposed to do then? We have to put this thing out or it may spread."
Kian shakes his head and says "No, it won't spread. When demons use their demon fire, it's almost like a part of them so it has intention. It will burn until someone stronger comes along and puts it out or until the demon who cast it calls it back. Otherwise, it'll burn for all eternity."
Harris looks at Kian with disbelief and scoffs at him saying "Are you telling me that I should just let this thing burn!? What the hell am I supposed to tell people!? What the hell am I supposed to tell my superiors!!??"
Kian awkwardly looks to me before looking back to him and saying "Uh..." Harris looks to the sky like he's praying for strength before saying "What the hell is happening... What's with all the demons lately and why are they roaming around and marking things like a pissing dog!?"
Harris looks to me and narrows his eyes as he says "You got something you want to tell me Hallows?" I continue to watch the flames as I say "No" Harris sighs with defeat and pulls out his phone. He punches in a few things and puts the phone up to his ear, giving me one more 'look' before walking away.
Several hours pass and after seeing that the fire indeed isn't moving, they begin packing up to leave. They place a few blockades and post warning signs to stay away but other than that, there wasn't much they could do.
When everyone has gone, Kian silently stands by my side as I continue to stand in the same spot, watching the burning flame with a burning flame of my own growing within me. While watching the flame, I ask Kian "Can you get me water... please?"
Kian frowns at me in concern and says "Water won't put the fire out, dollface." I shake my head and look to him as I say "Not for the flames... for me." He looks mildly surprised before asking "Where am I supposed to get water?"
I look to my car and say "In the trunk." I hand him the keys with a small smile. He looks at the keys before looking back up to me with confusion. He slowly nods his head and says "Sure... just give me a minute."
I nod and look back at the flames. I'll only need a minute... as soon as he figures out how to work the keys and starts digging in the trunk, I silently leap over the blockades and walk up to the flames with rages seeping from me. My shoulder tingles a little as I call up my magic and will the flames to leave.
They flicker and brighten as if cruelly greeting me but I ignore them and continue to walk to where the front door used to be. "Mrs. Lewis? Mr. Lewis! Can you hear me?" I use my magic to see into the flames and look for their souls, hoping and praying that they're still here and somehow safe.
I then see it! Two small souls, barely hanging onto each other in the middle of the flames!! They're nothing more than two small, blue orbs! The fire has been slowly eating away at them!! My rage grows as I quickly leap into the flames without thinking.
At first, it burns but then something strange happens. Something awakens deep within me and suddenly the flames around me can't touch me! No, they're actually pulling away from me as I quickly make my way over to the two little souls.
I quickly scoop them up and hold them against my chest as I turn around and leave just as quickly. When I step out of the flames, I look up to see Kian standing there with a look of shock, fear, and confusion on his face.
The water bottle in his hand falls to the ground, completely forgotten as I continue walking to him. As I step closer, he takes a small step back and flinches but he continues to look at me in awe before saying "Eris... turn it off, dollface."
Confused, I look at him with a frown and ask "What?" His eyes dart all around me and when I look, blue flames drip from me, burning everything it touches within seconds! When I turn back to the house, my mouth nearly drops open when I see the flames were completely gone.
The flame was gone, even my name was no longer on fire but everywhere I've stepped, I've left scorch marks. As soon as the liquid blue flame drips from me, it hits the ground and dissipates with a sizzle. I panic and look down at the two souls in my arms but when I see them glowing brightly, I let out a sigh of relief.
I look back up to Kian and ask "How do I turn it off!?" He gives me a weary smile and says "Just... just call it back." I think of it like my magic and call it back. I watch with wonder when the flames completely disappear but when I look back up to Kian, I quickly ask "Was that part of the blood bond thing?"
Kian swallows hard and slowly shakes his head before saying "No... that was your demon fire, not mine."
