Ji Chuan pursed his lips while biting the lower one. He wanted to marry a woman with no official husband or concubines but now it seemed like it was impossible. Because of Ji Shixun, he was not in a situation where he could even think of marrying a woman.

Now his situation was perilous and he was being sent as an offering to marry just anyone. The only mercy or the last bit of maternal love that his mother showed to Ji Chuan was that she did not marry him off to that cripple Yu Cheng.

"Don't look like that," Old Madam Ji knew what Ji Chuan was thinking and sighed. She said to him, "I know that you don't want to get married because of what happened to your father but have you ever thought about what would happen to you if you don't marry?" 

Ji Chaun stayed quiet and Old Madam Ji understood that he was blaming her for not stopping his mother.
