Colby was in the cart now. It was a good thing that Anna was a only daughter in a farmer's family and that she knew how to ride a horse. "Was it alright to leave those two there?" Fern asked.

Anna's cheek tightened. Maurice entered the cave and the only thing that he was interested was that arrow. And despite Colby' suffering, he laughed out loud. "This is it," he realised what he did wrong and contained the laughter. "Take the cart and horses. Take them wherever you want to go."

"What?" Rorgue shouted. "Just like that."

Maurice kept on staring at that arrow. "When a man loses half his head and a eye, the number of things that he sees also become less. But trust me, this thing – it's image is carved in the back of my head.
