Kapitel 174: Paying back with pain

When the dust settled and his breathing steadied, he was surrounded by rubble and guts. Blood trickled down from where the ropes had sunk. He heaved, cusping his knees, and then turned around. The two guards that were at the door had fallen, with broken glass in their bellies and stones over their heads.

The rubble of the roof had fallen around as if he was holding an umbrella against the rain of debris. Cracks crawled over the walls that were standing, and Riley knew what had happened.

He had held onto it for so long, but when he let go of it, his rage erupted like a volcano. It poured out of him like lava, burning and turning everything to a crisp.

"Well, thank you for that," he heard claps from above the walls. "We were planning to tear down the whole place."

"He is not dead?" Riley's teeth grinded. Veins ran through his eyes as red lightning, and when he raised his head, they turned bloodshot.
