Kapitel 83: Chapter 80

Mance nervously inquired, "Who are you, and what do you want?" despite the clarity of Bahamut's words. Bahamut, his gaze sweeping across the assembly of Wildlings, responded, "Names matter little. What I want is your allegiance, or the alternative is not favorable." The air hung heavy with the unspoken threat.

Gritting his teeth, Mance asserted, "We're free folk. We won't kneel to anyone." Bahamut, with a smirking demeanor, countered, "Bowing is not always a sign of weakness. It can be a choice for survival." Mance, his expression resigned, surveyed the gathered Wildlings, noticing children and wildlings alike, and reluctantly added, "Survival is what we all seek, but how can we trust a stranger being, even one as powerful as you?"

With a weighty sense of responsibility as their leader, Mance pressed further, "And what of our freedom?" Bahamut, undeterred, asserted, "Your freedom will mean nothing if the Night King sweeps across the land. I offer a different kind of freedom—a freedom from the shackles of imminent doom." Mance couldn't help but acknowledge the truth in Bahamut's words; the looming threat of the Night King made him consider Bahamut more dangerous than the White Walkers.

Seeking clarity, Mance queried, "What awaits us at the Wall, then?" Bahamut, wearing a confident smile, responded, "The guarantee of survival. The Wall or ashes—decide." Though annoyed by Bahamut's veiled threat, Mance, recognizing his duty as a leader, conceded, "We'll need time to discuss this among our people."

However, Bahamut, noticing a sudden decrease in temperature, turned his gaze toward the land of bitter winter and stated, "Time is a luxury we do not possess. Decide swiftly, for the Night King's advance waits for no deliberation.".

Observing Bahamut's gaze fixed upon the distant land of the bitter winter, Mance spoke with a sense of urgency and understanding, "We follow you. For now." As Bahamut prepared to depart, Mance, recognizing the need for clarity, inquired about the proper way to address the enigmatic being.

However, Bahamut left the query unanswered and instead walked towards Jon, designating him as the leader for the journey to the Wall. Tormund, surprised, questioned, "Crow?" Bahamut responded with a smile, affirming, "Yes, the one with the blood of the dragon." Mance, looking at Jon, recognized the truth, murmuring, "Targaryen."

With a final directive, Bahamut declared, "Until we meet again, my men will take care of you. Cause no trouble for me, and obey Aemon Targaryen, second in line to the crown." The revelation left Ygritte with the desire to question Jon about his true identity, but she held back as Bahamut stood before Jon, a dragon towering over a smaller figure.

Placing Aithusa in Jon's hand, Bahamut conveyed, "I hope you do better this time, kid." Subsequently, Bahamut ascended into the sky, transforming into a dragon mid-air. A mighty roar echoed, sending a rush of air that toppled people and scattered tents. With powerful wings beating, Bahamut soared toward the awaiting guests, leaving Aithusa in Jon's care. Aithusa, initially reluctant, found comfort in Jon's presence, even as she watched Bahamut depart.

Bahamut, determined to confront the enigmatic Three-Eyed Raven who had taunted him before, soared in the direction of the cave located Beyond the Wall. This cave served as the sanctuary of the greenseer Three-Eyed Raven, guarded by a group of Children of the Forest. Above the cave stood an ancient and massive weirwood tree, its trunk adorned with a carved face. The weirwood's roots extended deep into the cave, merging with the body of the Three-Eyed Raven.

The entrance to the cave was shielded by the potent magic of the Children of the Forest, preventing the entry of wights and annihilating any undead creature attempting to breach its defenses. Armed with this knowledge, Bahamut embarked on a lengthy search, scouring the region between the Fist of the First Men and the Antler River—the area where the cave was believed to be located.

After a considerable span of time, Bahamut succeeded in locating the cave. Guided by the unique magical signature of a distinct creature he had never encountered before—the Children of the Forest—he closed in on the elusive abode hidden Beyond the Wall.
