Late at night, only a single faint light was still burning in the pitch-black sky.

Fearing Zhou Mingchen would notice, Xia Lu closed the curtains tightly, locked the door, and only turned on a small desk lamp by her side.

After several hours of battle, she finally completed the static advertisement assigned by Manager Zhang. The big project had not progressed at all; with the current trend, she didn't know how much more trivial work would emerge.

Xia Lu lay on the desk, stretching out a hand to fiddle with a pineapple-shaped roly-poly toy beside her.

"What do you think I should do?" She was full of worry, finding the job much harder than she had imagined.

Slight footsteps could be heard from the hallway—it was so quiet at night that even small sounds were clear.

Xia Lu held her breath and listened as the footsteps moved down the stairs. She quickly reached out to turn off the desk lamp.
