Above the stage, Anne raised her chin and watched the crowd of people around her.

"Mrs. Long, Loraine is brilliant. She even knows how to paint. That's amazing!"

"She's alright. We hired an art teacher for her, so if she can't even paint that, then it would be embarrassing."

"Well, some people just aren't as gifted. Even with a teacher, they might not produce anything worth looking at. Plus, with young people being the way they are nowadays, who has the patience to study art? Your daughter-in-law is truly exceptional."

Anne didn't respond, but the smile on her mouth couldn't conceal her evident pride.
