"Caroline, listen to me!" Eddison didn't expect their conversation to turn out like this. He really didn't.
He tried to pull her back into his arms, but Caroline was one step ahead of him and successfully dodged his attempts.
"I know what you were thinking!" Caroline began to speak, sounding strained. She raised her hand outward, warning him away from her.
"I do. I can even understand why you thought that. It's normal, but... I just need some time to get over it, alright?" she said.
Caroline pursed her lips and repeated, "Yes, I need some time."
However, Eddison still took a step forward and yelled out nervously, "Caroline!"
He wanted her to stop distancing herself from him, to yell at her to stop moving away. But regardless, Caroline kept retreating.
In that moment, he felt all sanity leave him. Whenever she took a step backward from him, Eddison would take one forward to close the distance between them.
