My mother was over-protectivity itself. Wherever I went, she was always, constantly, beside me.

Dating, guys… with her around, it was absolutely out of the question.

The curfew was at ten o'clock and woe betide me if I was late even a thousandth of a second.

Unfortunately for her, she couldn't keep an eye on me around the clock. She had a job to support her beloved, and precious, daughter.

She thought I was out with friends, but instead as a good disobedient daughter, I met my lover, Percy.

He was really perfect, he treated me sweetly and drove me back at nine thirty, exactly. Obviously not at the door, but a few steps from my house. I couldn't risk my mother seeing us from the window, where, I was sure, she anxiously waited for me every night.

I know one day she would find out anyway, so it was stupid to keep hiding it from her. But my mother hated the opposite sex.

Maybe it was because my father had abandoned us.
