92.1% FATE: The Man with Divine Keys / Chapter 455: Another Summon

Kapitel 455: Another Summon

"Alright, let's end the pleasantries here."

Gilgamesh waved his hand, his serpent-like crimson eyes locking onto Arkhan.

"As a king from another world, you must be aware of the current situation in Uruk. I ask you, knowing the inevitable doom awaiting, are you still willing to stay and struggle alongside this city until the very end?"

Uruk was fated to fall, and this was a fact that no one could change.

It wasn't because it was gradually forgotten over time, but because of a battle that was happening right now, at this very moment, in the most intense conflict, embracing the grandest deaths.

In this battle, Uruk was doomed to lose—it was what the proud King of Heroes, Gilgamesh, foresaw in the future. Although he accepted this fate openly, he intended to struggle with this kingdom until the very end.

If Arkhan were a Heroic Spirit, then there would be no need for such a question.

A Heroic Spirit was, after all, already dead, so dying again wasn't a big deal. As long as he could fulfill the fateful mission before him, then even death didn't matter.

However, now the situation had changed slightly.

Arkhan didn't appear in the form of a Heroic Spirit and Servant but in the flesh.

Being a demigod, Gilgamesh understood human nature better than ordinary people.

The fear of death, the pursuit of power, the craving for fame and fortune—these desires engraved in human nature filled them with infinite possibilities but also brought about a lot of uncertainties.

Therefore, he had to make sure that this ally from beyond this world was truly trustworthy and dependable.

Gilgamesh crossed his arms, his crimson eyes fixed straight on Arkhan.

Although it was just a mere gaze, it gave off a feeling of looking down, like a god scrutinizing an insignificant mortal. Even without saying a word, the pressure from his gaze alone could make one breathless.

Even though he knew Arkhan was also a king, it didn't mean he would set aside his own pride. Wherever he was, he was the only king above and below the heavens!

Arkhan calmly met Gilgamesh's gaze, neither flinching nor showing anger, just smiling faintly.

"Just standing here now... that's already the best answer, no?"

"Heh... Hahahahaha..."

Gilgamesh's laughter echoed throughout the entire throne room, and after a while, he turned to the woman beside him.

"Siduri, instruct the temple to prepare a better accommodation for our guest."

Siduri, who understood her king's temperament well, clearly felt the joy and satisfaction in his heart.

"Yes." Siduri answered, gracefully nodded her head.

In theory, the temple should be responsible for the affairs related to worshiping gods, which had nothing to do with the people's lives. Unfortunately, now that the gods had disappeared, and without special summoning, they couldn't even descend, so the work of the temple instantly lost its meaning.

Because of this, Gilgamesh waved his hand and delegated a series of miscellaneous tasks, including those related to the people, agriculture, animal husbandry, and city planning to the temple, fully utilizing their remaining value.

There was no choice.

After all, the temple was where the most elite talents of Uruk gathered. Letting them go to waste would be a wasteful use of resources.

Gilgamesh was feeling quite cheerful and in good spirits at this moment. Feeling that there was no time to waste, he immediately began the next summoning ritual.

"Let's not delay any further! Let's start the next summoning right away!"

Gilgamesh showed what it meant to be a proactive king, wasting no time as he stepped up to the summoning circle again to commence another summoning.

'Well, it's been a while since His Majesty has been this happy. Let him have his way this once...' Siduri sighed while rubbing her temples.

"This time, I will definitely summon you!"

Gilgamesh declared with an air of kingly authority, his face taking on a mad gambler's excitement.

"Come forth and serve under this king! This is the perfect stage for you to showcase your talents, the court mage who once served the Knights of the Round Table!"

Upon hearing Gilgamesh's declaration, Arkhan was slightly taken aback.

'Is Gilgamesh planning to summon Merlin? Oh, wait, in this world, she should be called Mari, right?'

The summoning circle shimmered with dazzling light, but unfortunately, no one appeared.

Instead, a voice, full of charm, echoed in everyone's ears.

"Please spare me, King Gilgamesh. I've just finished dealing with the previous Singularity so I'm too exhausted to even lift a finger now. Also, if I may add, you know the fate of the kingdom I once served, right? So, to avoid repeating mistakes, it's better for you to seek help elsewhere. Perhaps from that black-haired fellow next to you... Well, I have a livestream to do soon, so... Bye-bye~!"

Arkhan: "..."

Gilgamesh: "..."

Siduri: "..."

Watching Gilgamesh tightly clenching his fists with veins twitching on his forehead, Arkhan subtly moved a few steps away to avoid getting splattered with blood in case things got out of hand.

"Please calm down, Your Majesty."

Siduri hurriedly pacified her king, relieved that his temper had improved considerably since his return; otherwise, she believed this ziggurat would have been in ruins by now.

Gilgamesh took several deep breaths before reluctantly suppressing his rising anger, his face displaying a chilling smile.

"Merlin, huh? Once this mess is sorted out, I'll make sure to settle the score with her."

"So, you summoned Merlin as your first Servant, huh?" Arkhan murmured, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

At the mention of Merlin's name, Gilgamesh's mood grew even more irritable. It was the first time he had been rejected twice in a row by the same person, and to make matters worse, someone had witnessed it.

"Hmph, even without that woman, I can handle those who dare to disturb my territory!" Gilgamesh waved his hand dismissively, showing no concern.

"But, Your Majesty, didn't you say only Lady Merlin could put the Goddess of Beginning to sleep?" Siduri interjected.

Upon hearing that, Gilgamesh shot her a glare.

Was it really the time to say such things? Was she deliberately trying to provoke him? Didn't she see someone was watching?

However, Siduri seemed oddly confident, smiling as she quickly added.

"Your Majesty, haven't you realized yet? Although Lady Merlin may not be willing to come and help us, she has pointed out another path for us."

Gilgamesh paused for a moment, then seemed to understand something, turning his head abruptly to Arkhan.

Indeed, if their world Merlin couldn't be summoned, he could find Merlin from another world!

Arkhan wore a look of 'I knew it' on his face, having already thought of this possibility since the moment Merlin mentioned 'the black-haired fellow next to you'.

"Hahh... Alright, let me give it a try..."

After saying that with a sigh, Arkhan walked up to the summoning circle, reciting the incantation Gilgamesh had just spoken.

After a moment, the summoning circle once again burst into radiant light, accompanied by a faint floral scent as flower petals rained down.

Soon, a figure clad in white robes, wielding a flamboyant staff, emerged with a supremely confident smirk adorned his face.
