Kapitel 59: Chapter 59 - Leader
Night came and while the situation outside was quite brimming with different emotions, Zach's house was completely full of sadness seeing Zoey, Shiela, and Zach in the living room not in the mood to be happy as they listened to Sophia who was telling them what happened on her end and how she has Angel with her.
Sophia told everyone that she and Jenny had only met a week after they were transported to Pluto Sanctuary. They were both transported to a place that looked like a grass field as all they could see were only tall grasses around them without any signs of trees. In fact, they lived quite safely until Jenny started to give birth and that was when she perished.
Jenny dies shortly after giving birth as they are surrounded by many insect beasts after they get attracted by her shouts. Sophia could only have Jenny give birth alone as she protects them both from the beasts however, her strength was not enough to stop them all and that was when Jenny took the decision to stay behind while telling Sophia to take Angel away as there would be a greater chance for the baby to survive if she will be the one who would make a run for it.
Jenny who was still bleeding and tired was completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of insect beasts. From there on, Sophia was left to take care of Angel, giving her all the needs that a baby should have and thanks to the Evolution Store, they both survived until the tutorial was over,
After processing everything, Zach and Zoey have also already accepted the fact that it was not only Jenny who has perished, Hannah, the children, and even their mother, Vanessa might also be gone upon not seeing them even after all the time that has passed.
Right now, Zach could be found carrying Angel in his arms while he forced the tears in his eyes not to fall down from the sadness that he was feeling however, the thought that they really were gone was just too much even for him as he could only bite down his lips to hold his emotions back. On the other hand, Zoey could not stop herself from crying seeing her being consoled by Shiela on the corner.

Suddenly, several explosions happened in the base which brightened up the night sky upon seeing fires started to scatter everywhere however, that was not all because right after the explosions, several gunshots started echoing which immediately caused the survivors inside to panic as they didn't know what was happening.
…Knock….Knock….Knock….
After three knocks, the door of Zach's house was opened from which Mike could be found breathing heavily while looking at them inside. He wasn't even feeling sorry for his abrupt intrusion since the situation left him no choice as it was of great importance.
"I-I'm sorry for my sudden intrusion but we were under attack." Mike said.
Hearing this, Zach then just stood up from his seat and gave Angel back to Sophia before heading out of the house. The expression on his face was so cold that even Zoey, Sophia, and Shiela were scared to say something to him.
After leaving the premises of his house, Zach didn't see Adam and Eve, so he then just focused his attention on the explosions in the distance from which the survivors kept on yelling that they were being attacked by RPGs and grenades.
As it was already dark added to the sudden change of the surroundings where tall trees had grown all over the place, it was hard to tell who were the enemies but one thing was for sure and that is they were human just like them.
"People living inside!! If you want to live, then surrender and stop all your futile resistance!! As long as you give us all your belongings, we promise not to kill you." A sound that might have come from a megaphone echoed throughout the base which came from the dark shades of the trees.

After the message ended, the sound of explosions and gunshots then started echoing again from which the place brightened up once more. On the other hand, the people living in the base, especially the Rangers also started fighting back but as they were caught off guard, their focus was in a mess especially since no one was giving them orders.
"All Rangers! Stay put and be on standby! Anyone who is not capable of fighting immediately retreat to a safer place and wait for things to subside." Zach heard the message from which he also took out a megaphone to let everyone hear him upon seeing how chaotic the base had become.
Hearing Zach's voice, every survivor of the base suddenly felt relieved and started to think straight. As they were ordered to stay put, the Rangers started to calm down as they waited for another instruction.
Meanwhile, Zach could be found walking toward the direction of the place where the explosions keep on happening, and not before long, Ethan, Isabelle, Carl, and Viktor found his location and immediately started reporting everything that they had observed so far.
"Do not worry. Let me take care of them. Just regroup the Rangers and wait for my instruction." Zach said as he could not find himself to pay attention to what they were saying as he was so angry that he was on the verge of erupting and taking it out on someone fortunately, it just so happened that an enemy was attacking.
On the other hand, Ethan, Isabelle, Carl, and Viktor were completely surprised as it was the first time that they saw Zach had such an expression on his face. They wanted to stop him by saying that it was dangerous as they still didn't know the number of enemies, but they found themselves couldn't do so after feeling a little afraid as he just looked so scary to approach.
Not before long, they then just watched Zach suddenly disappear right in front of them which made their eyes wide as they were sure that they were following him all this time and yet he vanished like air in just a blink of an eye.
"Quick. Zach gave his orders. Immediately regroup the Rangers and wait for further instruction." Ethan was the first to react as he immediately thought that it must be Zach's skill since he himself also had one. He, however, was just curious as to what kind of skill it was that allowed him to vanish from their sight.
With that, Carl and the rest immediately moved as they started regrouping the Rangers who had scattered throughout the base. Knowing that Zach was here now, each one of them then started finding the Rangers under them as soon as possible as they didn't know when Zach would need their help.
Meanwhile, Zach could now be found in the enemies' hiding place seeing him standing on a branch of a tree while drinking something like blue liquid that was inside a vial after it took him 12 seconds to arrive in the area while in Stealth which completely depletes his Spirit.
Drinking several Spirit Vials, Zach replenishes his lost Spirit all the while observing the enemies around. Though he could not clearly tell how many there were, he, however, had already seen and counted fifteen of them nearby.
After seeing that his Spirit had become full, that was when Zach jumped down the tree and immediately used Stealth once more as he ran towards the nearest enemy in his location. Without giving mercy, he took out the Battle Sword from the inventory and cut the person in half before leaving the place again and rushing toward the next one.
Drinking Spirit Vial every time he killed a person, Zach started a silent massacre as the enemy didn't even have a clue that over time, less and less have they become. It was a perfect assassination as they didn't even know who had killed them until they died and even with that, they could only see his shadow before they expired.
Over time, the gunshots and explosions started to subside until the place suddenly became too quiet which made Ethan and the rest of the Rangers feel curious as to what was happening as it was only fifteen minutes did Zach arrived. However, as they were ordered to stand by, they could only wait until one of them suddenly shouted that Zach was back.
Everyone got out from where they were hiding so they could immediately head towards him. Ethan and the rest of the captains were the ones who came first in order to ask for instructions however, all of them were completely frozen upon seeing him walking normally with a sword in his hand but that wasn't the thing that made them freeze, it was the fact that Zach was completely covered with blood and that they felt too intimidated to approach him.
"Are all the Rangers here?" Zach then asked while looking at Ethan and the rest of the captains.
"Not all of them as there were some who have helped the rest of the survivors to retreat first." Ethan answered with seriousness.
"Good. Take half of them to search if the enemy has dropped something and have the other half start inquiring about the rest of the survivors if they have occupied a shelter back in Pluto Sanctuary. I'll give you an hour before I call you again for a meeting." Zach said before heading back to his house not minding their gazes at him as he kind of felt a little sober after taking out the anger within him.
After seeing Zach was no longer in their field of vision, almost everyone breathed in relief as they just couldn't forget Zach's appearance and intimidating aura that they almost thought that he wasn't the Zach that they knew before the tutorial.
"S-So scary. Is that really Zach that we know? I felt like he become a completely different person." Viktor asked while remembering Zach's appearance just now.
"Yeah. It's the first time I have seen him that way." Isabelle said.
"I've been to his house and aside from Jenny, I seem not to see Hannah, Rose, the children, and his mother around. S-So, I think they might not survive the tutorial." Mike said telling them what he had seen so far after calling him on his house.
"R-Really?" Carl asked with his eyes wide after he couldn't believe what just Mike said.
"Zach's emotions right now might be unstable after many of his family died so let's just do what he ordered to us and not make his emotions worse than they originally." Ethan said from which he immediately divided the Rangers around where Isabelle, Viktor, and Mike's group would be the ones who would inquire about the survivors while his and Carl's would be the ones to do the other task.
One hour later, inside a building where they would normally hold a meeting, Zach could now be found looking at the seven people in front of him. Some of them were close to him while some were just familiar.
These people here are the ones Zach has ordered to inquire about and since they were here, all of them might be the only ones among the thousands of survivors of the base that had occupied a shelter back in Pluto Sanctuary.
Ethan, Mike, Carl, Isabelle, and Viktor were included in the group. The other two were Patricia from the Rangers and Kevin from the normal survivors. Zach could see that all of them had bronze-class items on their bodies which meant that all of them had killed bronze-class monsters before the tutorial ended.
"So, only you have decided to come. Well, I feel glad that you are all alive and well. However, we are not here to talk about that. All of you must know already that we need to activate the Sanctuary Portal Totem in order for us to return to Pluto Sanctuary." Zach then finally started the meeting and he saw them nodding at him after hearing his words.
"However, before anything else, I would like to say that I will no longer take the position of being your leader from this moment on. With the help of the system, each of you here and even the remaining survivors outside can now live without my help so you should now focus on yourself and treat me as your fellow companion instead." Zach followed.
"Now. All of us here own a shelter and everyone here knows the perks of being an owner. So, I have gathered you all so that we can talk about the direction the base will follow as the fate of the base is now in our hands." Zach continues.
"Before that, can I say something first?" Suddenly, Ethan raised his hand gaining everyone's attention to him.
"Yes." Zach replied.
"First of all, I would like to say that you were the leader that I have followed for months. If not for your grace in accepting us before, I don't know if I will still be alive right now. So, what I'm trying to say is that let me continue to work under you as it is your generosity that made me what I am today." Ethan said with great seriousness on his face as he still couldn't forget the day they experienced great happiness and peace when Zach accepted them on his base.
"It was also the same for me." Mike also supported Ethan's claims since both of them were together when they received Zach's help.
"Me too."
"The same for me."
"I also felt the same."
Each and every one also voiced out their support that even Isabelle and Viktor who have joined the base the latest also supported Ethan's claims saying that they still want him to continue being their leader. Zach couldn't help but feel moved by their words which made him smile a little and some peace of mind.
"If that's your decision then I gladly accept and promise that I won't disappoint you. So, let's start planning about the future." Zach said from which he then started telling everyone the idea that he had in mind and it was carefully discussed with everyone as he didn't want to miss something.
With that, it took them two hours before they finally had a detailed conclusion of their meeting though it would still need to be known by the other survivors of the base. Zach then just decided in the meeting to announce it out tomorrow as it was already late at night and everyone was still not in their best condition as he himself wasn't.
