Kapitel 8: I've Changed My Mind, Maybe Arson Can Be Romantic

Bai Jingfei followed Song Yongrui quietly waiting to see what this man had in store for them.

She had been charmed silly by him. A handsome man who is evil? That suited Bai Jingfei perfectly. Unfortunately Bai Jingfei was dense. Even Osmium would give up in despair if it had to compete with Bai Jingfei.

She was probably never going to realize she'd been charmed.

Song Yongrui too was happy. It was always a good time when you meet people with similar interests, goals and aims. Especially if they were a good accomplice.

After reaching the back of the prison they reached a corner in which there were a few jars of oil and a lamp.

Bai Jingfei celebrated a little as soon as she saw this.

She knew what they were going to do...

Commit arson.

It was her second favorite crime after embezzlement. Nothing could beat cold cash in Bai Jingfei's heart, but some gasoline and a lighter could warm it.

She chuckled a little and looked back up at the tall gangster next to her and met his devious grin with one of her own.

Song Yongrui had thought that Bai Jingfei would chicken out after figuring out his plans, after all she was pretty weak and moved pretty slowly. It was also obvious that she was the daughter of a high ranking official.

He just couldn't figure out her motive.

But since she was coming along of her own free will he wasn't going to stop her. It was best to implicate her in the crime so she wouldn't snitch on him.

Song Yongrui knew that there would be no consequences even if she snitched, and that it was highly unlikely that she would snitch, but he had his reservations at the end of the day.

Now that the left prison was completely empty, burning it down might give the imperial family some relief, but that would only be temporary.

Bai Jingfei knew very well that her family would not be harmed in this process. Her father was both weak and meek, and he had maintained ties with the prisoners covertly, making sure that they got adequate food and weren't housed with other petty criminals.

Thus she carelessly went along with the arson.

Bai Jingfei picked up a jar of oil and started spreading it over the walls of the prison, throwing it at the looming walls of the prison, waddling around almost like a penguin.

Song Yongrui followed her with another jar and the lamp and looked quite amused.

Bai Jingfei saw the kitchen as they crossed and she dropped the can and ran in. Song Yongrui was confused but went behind her anyways.

Inside the dusty kitchen were a few sacks full of rice and flour as well as some kitchen utensils.

Bai Jingfei ran over and started dragging a sack of flour with her and nodded towards Song Yongrui, seemingly signaling him to go ahead.

Song Yongrui was extremely confused.

He was wondering whether this girl was particularly short because her family didn't feed her…

But judging from her clothes it was apparent that Bai Jingfei was some sort of nobility. There was no ordinary citizen who could afford such luxurious light-weight silk clothes.

If Bai Jingfei were to find out that the clothes she had been dragging along, complaining about how heavy they were, could be considered light weight she would most definitely be complaining.

Or cursing.

'Why exactly is this girl stealing flour?' thought Song Yongrui.

Of course Bai Jingfei was neither impoverished, nor was she poor. She was simply an expert in causing damage, usually to her, but an expert nonetheless.

As a master arsonist she had a couple of tricks up her sleeve.

She threw the flour into the air like confetti, scattering it around desperately.

This only caused Song Yongrui to be more bewildered.

Of course, if you came across a tiny girl who helps you commit crimes, despite being a noble, who then proceeds to steal flour and disperse it into the wind, you would be confused too.

Bai Jingfei was a confusing girl in general if you wanted to be exact about it.

She had been struggling carrying the jar of oil but now Song Yongrui was pouring the oil for her so she focused on the flour.

Her legs were tiny in comparison to his and thus she had been trailing him but now she was ahead, scattering flour like a flower girl at a wedding.

It only took a few more minutes to circle the entire building and they stopped to admire their handiwork back at the entrance of the prison.

Bai Jingfei was overjoyed.

She hadn't felt the thrill of arson since way before she moved to her little mountainside cave.

She took her flour cover hand and wiped the sweat off of her forehead. She had overexerted herself quite a bit already. She couldn't smell anything because her nose had been irritated by the flour and it left a ticklish sensation in there.

She sneezed.

Song Yongrui looked at her and couldn't help but see her resemblance to a small cat. Even the evil glint in her eyes matched that of a cat's.

Suddenly from the corner of her eye Bai Jingfei spotted two soldiers walking their way. Their especially reflective armor had sent a beam of light into her face alerting Bai Jingfei.

She turned to Song Yongrui.

With a smile on his face he pointed towards the forest and whispered to Bai Jingfei, "Run."

So Bai Jingfei ran.

When she reached the edge of the forest she turned back to Song Yongrui, almost feeling concern toward his safety.

However she brushed it off as worry that they would be caught, and that they wouldn't get to set the prison on fire.

Bai Jingfei waved her hands frantically at Song Yongrui looking extremely flustered and panicked. The guards would reach him within minutes.

And so, Song Yongrui picked up the lantern and did what the arsonist couple had been waiting for all along.

He threw it towards the prison.
