"Annie, why do you think she would tell me those things?" Nyla asked her maid as their carriage began to move away from the grand palace. Her gaze lingered on the beautiful streets of the capital as she pondered the Queen's words.

Only she would dare talk about Evelynn Rosetta like this. No one else, not even those who betrayed her, would even think that other sorcerers would avenge Evelynn. They knew Evelynn was not a dark sorceress, she did not practice dark magic. She was betrayed.

"Perhaps to investigate the matters concerning Lady Michaela and Sir Xander," Annie answered meekly.

"What of Lucius?" Nyla asked.

"His Grace is a powerful Vampire; I believe it would be very hard for him to fall. Perhaps... perhaps he found something and simply ran away to explore it," Annie said. She had no impression of the black-haired vampire with enchanting looks. Lucius was not someone who liked to interact with humans. He only liked to stay with Evelynn Rosetta.
