Kapitel 19: Comprehension (1)
Frowning slightly, Tai decided to continue practicing his sorcery.
Soon the sun had come up and he had still not made any progress.
He had managed to fall asleep earlier in the day after their lunch of monster meat, and he had actually woken up at night thinking that it was morning.
"Strange."
Closing his eyes, the teenager tried to call forth the ancient wraith, but strangely, he could not feel anything.
Sighing, Tai put on a shirt.
It was yet another day on Black Nest Island.
Walking out of his room, the day was bright and pretty, but he had the overwhelming feeling that something terrible would happen.
For the rest of the day, Tai lazed about studying runic sorcery, destroying his almost finished batch of pencils, and killing one or two mundane beasts.
An ordinary day for him.
But he had an inexplicable feeling of dread in his heart.
Claire walked up to the deck of the majestic flying ship and sat down beside the red haired teenager.
Tai smiled lightly as he waved.
"Hi."
Claire nodded at him and waved back.
Then awkward silence followed.
Tai wasn't really a people person to start conversations, and Claire did not even have vocal cords to begin with.
Claire turned over to the red haired teenager, then made a sign of counting money and touched the sides of her head.
Tai frowned slightly, it was Nikolah's job to dechiper what the blonde girl was saying.
"Er..., You want to count my mind?"
Claire shook her head, making Tai frown deeper.
"You want to...."
But he was saved from cracking his brain more as Nikolah seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
Leaning against a door post, the blue haired girl smirked.
"She means a penny for your thoughts."
Tai smiled lightly as comprehension dawned on him.
The speech impaired girl wanted to know what he was thinking about.
"Sorry, I can't tell you.
It's kind of really stupid to say out loud."
The three of them sat down on the deck and stared at the gargantuan floating island in front of them.
However, while they sat down in idle silence, Claire began to twitch.
And twitch.
And twitch.
Soon, she was shaking vigorously.
Tai looked worried a little bit at first, but when she began to shake, he got worried.
"Nikolah!, I think something is wrong with Claire!!"
Claire suddenly began to shake even more vigorously, then she suddenly stopped.
"Claire?.. a..are you okay?"
Tai was afraid to touch the blonde girl just in case she was dead.
However, Claire's eyes suddenly shot open.
"Three fools lay dead in pieces on a hill of gold, one in search of vanity and another in search of glory."
The red haired teenager suddenly froze, dread creeping up his heart.
He had definitely been in this exact same situation before.
He had a very bad feeling that something dangerous would surely happen really soon.
In an instant, Nikolah lifted up the blonde girl in a princess carry.
"We have to get her to the highest point on the island!"
As they ran, carrying the spasming body, Claire suddenly began to shake even more vigorously as she wailed at decibels not even remotely possible for a normal human being to reach, not to talk of someone who had no vocal cords.
"Three Fools Lay Dead In Ashes On A Hill Of Gold, One In Search Of Vanity And Another In Search Of Glory."

Her words filled Tai with terror as she was supposed to be able to see the future.
This further confirmed his suspicion that something really bad would soon happen.
In a short period of time, the three had arrived at the highest point on the entire Island.
The Black Nest itself.
It was a twisted mass of gargantuan branches that had a golden light gleaming from it's middle.
Without thinking much, the three climbed up the hill and placed the twitching body on the hill.
Cold sweat ran down Nikolah's spine ad she tried to wake the blonde girl up.
"Claire! Come back Claire!!, Clarence Voyante!!"
Soon, Claire had come to as Nikolah sighed in relief.
As Tai went over to check on Claire, Nikolah suddenly tensed up.
But this time, Tai was prepared.
He ducked under the ice spikes Nikolah shot, them made an awkward shoulder roll avoiding the black flames from the dragon behind him.
Then comprehension finally dawned on the red haired teenager.
"I've lived this day before!"
A flash of extreme heat followed, and the world went dark.
Tai had died.
