Early morning, the immortal king stood up, rolled his shoulder, tapped RuIng who fell asleep and went over to the mouth of the cave, turned to light and sped off. Sevir heard everything and watched some of it.
When the light returned, their eyes met.
“Where did you go?”
“To share my essence,” he said. Sevir didn’t have the guts to ask for more. Instead, he asked, “what distance can you travel alone?”
“To your destination and back easily, or one round of all the castle in all the lands.”
Sevir guessed his father recovered well. He, too, felt better after a round of sleep. Bailong was sleeping with his head against the wall after flying around in the night and RuIng was recovering.
Suddenly, footsteps rose along the mountainside with unknown voices. “I am glad this is over. Let’s check the mouth one last time before we leave.”
