100% Douluo Dalu: Rise of the Twin Spirits / Chapter 5: Unleashing the Lightning

Kapitel 5: Unleashing the Lightning

The next morning came quickly, far too quickly for Jian's exhausted body. The moment his eyes opened, his muscles protested, sore and heavy from the previous day's intense training. He could still feel the lingering presence of his twin spirits—both the Winged Lightning Wolf and the Crimson Dragon Blade—coursing within him. But there was no time to relax.

A knock came at his door, followed by his father's commanding voice. "Jian, it's time."

Jian dragged himself out of bed, suppressing a groan as he stretched his aching limbs. He quickly dressed in his training gear, then made his way out to the courtyard where his father and grandfather were already waiting. Today felt different. The air was thick with anticipation.

"Today," Shen Zhen began as soon as Jian arrived, "we focus on your spirit techniques. You've touched upon your spirits, but now it's time to learn how to fight with them."

Shen Tian nodded in agreement, his eyes narrowing as he studied Jian. "Yesterday you showed promise. But spirit control is only the first step. A true Spirit Master must master both body and spirit. Let's see if you are ready for the next phase."

Jian's heartbeat quickened. His spirits were still new to him, their immense power barely tapped into. But there was an underlying confidence inside him—he knew he had what it took to control them. More importantly, he wanted to prove it to his family, to show that their faith in him was well-placed.

"Summon your Winged Lightning Wolf," Shen Zhen commanded.

Without hesitation, Jian closed his eyes, reaching deep into his spirit sea. He called forth the wolf, feeling its familiar, electric energy pulse through him. A gust of wind swirled around him as the massive, winged beast materialized, lightning crackling through its silver fur and wings. The wolf's golden eyes gleamed with raw power as it stood beside Jian, towering over him.

"Good," Shen Zhen said. "Now, let's begin."

Jian took a deep breath, preparing for whatever was coming. But what came next caught him by surprise.

His father raised his hand, summoning his own spirit—a massive, ethereal wolf that stood even larger than Jian's. Its fur was jet black, and its eyes glowed with an intense crimson light. This was Shen Zhen's spirit, the Black Thunder Wolf, feared across the continent for its terrifying strength.

Jian's eyes widened. He had never seen his father's spirit up close like this, and the sheer pressure it emitted sent a shiver down his spine.

"You will fight me," Shen Zhen said calmly, his eyes never leaving Jian's. "This is how you will learn. The battlefield will teach you faster than any lecture. Don't hold back."

Jian blinked in surprise. "Fight you? But—"

"There's no time for hesitation," Shen Zhen interrupted, his voice as cold as steel. "Summon your first spirit ring and attack. Show me what you've learned."

Jian hesitated for a moment but quickly realized that there was no other option. His father's expectations were clear—he was to fight, and he was to fight seriously.

With a deep breath, Jian reached into his spirit sea once more, calling upon his spirit ring. The familiar yellow glow of his first ring—the hundred-year Lightning Strike ring—flared to life around his body. The power of the lightning element surged within him, fueling his resolve.

"Lightning Strike!" Jian shouted, raising his hand as the Winged Lightning Wolf howled beside him. A bolt of lightning crackled through the air, shooting towards his father's Black Thunder Wolf.

But Shen Zhen didn't even flinch.

With a flick of his wrist, his father summoned his own spirit ring—a deep purple glow of a thousand-year spirit ring. The Black Thunder Wolf absorbed the lightning strike with ease, the electricity dissipating across its dark fur like it was nothing.

Jian's heart dropped. He knew his father was powerful, but seeing the gap between them so clearly was a sobering reality.

"You're too slow," Shen Zhen said, his tone laced with disappointment. "Your spirit is strong, but your control is still lacking. Again!"

Jian gritted his teeth, refusing to back down. He reached for his spirit once more, commanding his wolf to leap into action. The Winged Lightning Wolf lunged forward, its wings spreading wide as it dashed toward Shen Zhen's wolf with frightening speed.

"Faster!" his father barked.

Jian urged his wolf to move faster, pushing its lightning element to the limit. The wolf's body shimmered with electricity as it accelerated, closing the distance between them in a flash.

This time, the impact was real.

The Winged Lightning Wolf slammed into the Black Thunder Wolf, lightning crackling through the air as the two spirits clashed. The sound of thunder echoed through the courtyard as Jian poured every ounce of his strength into the attack.

But once again, Shen Zhen countered with ease. With a wave of his hand, his father's wolf knocked Jian's spirit aside, sending the Winged Lightning Wolf crashing into the ground.

Jian staggered, feeling the backlash of the attack through his spirit connection. His wolf was powerful, but it was clear that his father's mastery over his own spirit was far superior.

"You lack control," Shen Zhen said, his voice harsh but not unkind. "You have power, but power without precision is useless. You must learn to command your spirit with authority, or you will be defeated every time."

Jian nodded, wiping the sweat from his brow. He knew his father was right, but the frustration of failure gnawed at him.

"Let's take a break," Shen Tian finally said, stepping forward to place a hand on Jian's shoulder. His grandfather's voice was softer, more understanding. "You did well for your first real fight. The gap between you and your father is large, but that is to be expected. You've only just awakened your spirits."

Jian sighed, nodding. "I'll get stronger, Grandfather. I won't let you or Father down."

"I know you will," Shen Tian said, his eyes glinting with pride. "But you must be patient. Mastery takes time."

As they returned to the main house, Jian couldn't help but feel the weight of his future pressing down on him. He had so much to learn, so far to go. His father and grandfather were both titans of the spirit world, and compared to them, he was still a fledgling.

But he refused to be discouraged. He would master his spirits—he would become stronger. This was only the beginning.

Later that night, after a quiet dinner with his family, Jian found himself alone in his room, staring at the ceiling. His muscles ached, his mind was tired, but there was still something nagging at him.

The Sign-in System.

He had yet to use it again after the initial reward of his twin spirits. He wondered if now was the right time. His father's words echoed in his mind—power was useless without control. Maybe the system could help him.

With a deep breath, Jian sat up in bed and focused.

[Sign-In System Activated.]

A familiar screen appeared before him, glowing softly in the darkness.

[Location: Shen Clan Main House] [Remaining Sign-ins: 2]

Jian didn't hesitate.

[Sign-in Successful!]

The screen shimmered, and a new message appeared.

[Congratulations! You have received a reward: Lightning Control Manual (Intermediate).]

Jian's eyes widened. A manual for controlling lightning?

Without waiting, he pulled up the details of the manual in the system. It was exactly what he needed—detailed techniques and exercises to help him refine his control over his lightning element. If he could master this, his connection with the Winged Lightning Wolf would become stronger, and his attacks would become far more precise.

A smile tugged at the corners of his lips. This was exactly the breakthrough he needed.

The next morning, Jian woke with renewed determination. He spent hours poring over the Lightning Control Manual, practicing the exercises it described. Slowly but surely, he could feel the change in his control. His lightning was becoming more refined, less wild and chaotic.

By midday, he was back in the training courtyard, ready to face his father again.

Shen Zhen stood before him, arms crossed as usual. But this time, there was a hint of curiosity in his eyes. "Are you ready to try again?"

Jian nodded. "Yes, Father."

Shen Zhen summoned his Black Thunder Wolf once more, and Jian called forth his Winged Lightning Wolf in response. The two spirits faced each other, their eyes locked in an unspoken challenge.

This time, Jian was ready. He felt the lightning within him, but it was no longer wild. It was controlled, waiting for his command.

"Lightning Strike!" Jian shouted, and a bolt of lightning shot from his wolf's mouth, faster and more precise than before.

Shen Zhen's eyes widened slightly as the attack slammed into his wolf, leaving a faint scorch mark on its fur.

"Better," his father said, nodding in approval. "Much better."

Jian grinned, feeling the satisfaction of progress. He was far from mastering his spirit, but this was a step forward. And with the system by his side, he knew he would only continue to grow stronger.
