Kapitel 1: Sacrifice
"I'm trying to make the world a better place here. Whats with the contemptuous face." Rolled her eyes Jesse. Sitting lazily in her chair at the pub bar.
"Sigh whatever it's a choice you made for yourself." Replied Ben plainly. "So then do you know any good vegan restaurants out there?"
"Huh?" Jesse looked towards Ben in slight surprise. "You still wanna go out with me after daring to show me such a face?" She said curiously, not knowing what was wrong with this guys brain.
"You were the one who described my face, not me. I didn't know there was a degree for studying faces." Replied Ben sarcastically. "And why would i not dare. I didn't do anything wrong" He said as he smiled brightly towards her face.
Jesse was speechless for a while. She was just sitting alone drinking away, minding her own business, when this guy came out of nowhere and asked her out for dinner. Jesse didn't really care much and just replied that she was vegan. But he was being rude and still wanted to go out. Preposterous. But then why not?
"Ok big guy i know a good place called veggie nuts, let's meet there tomorrow" she said while finishing off her cup.
This time it was Ben's turn to be surprised. "Eh? you want to go out? O ok then, meet you there tomorrow." Replied Ben stuttering a bit as he cheerfully left the pub in high spirits.
"He hey" Jesse shouted out, but it was too late, he was already gone. 'This dumb ass, I didn't even tell him what time to meet.' Thought Jesse exhausted.
'I wonder why he wanted to go out with me so much?' Wondered Jesse. She didn't believe at all, for even a moment that she was dazzlingly beautiful. It didn't mean she was not confident, it was just a fact that she was above average at minimum and maximum.
'Whatever. Maybe he was just fooling around doing a dare with his mates, it's not that complicated.' She concluded.
The rest of the night went uneventful with her drinking a bit more before heading off home and sleeping in mere seconds later.

Next day Saturday
Mmmmmm
Early morning at 1 pm, which is actually late and not early, Jesse woke up and stretched lazily. The rest of the afternoon went uneventful following the same weekend routine. Which is shopping, workout, and chatting with family.
Jesse was a 22 year old and has no permanent job. Lives with her parents, who always keep pestering her to find a boyfriend, get married and live happily.
'Coming to think of it it's almost 7pm, mom should be almost done cooking.' as she thought of dinner Jesse the image of the freak dude from yesterday floated into her brain. As she lay down on her bed on her phone she mused 'That idiot couldn't possibly be truly coming right?'
After a while, even though Jesse tried to dismiss it, the thought kept on creeping inside her brain. 'Sigh, Sometimes i just don't understand myself.' Complained Jesse inwardly. 'Whatever it's only a ten minute walk it shouldn't harm to just pass by.' Convinced herself Jesse.
Standing up she dressed up and left. She actually dresses quite fast for a woman, maybe because of her overconfidence or not bothering much she doesn't have any makeup on.
Ten minutes later she walks past a corner and finally reach's the restaurant. Looking inside she didn't find the guy from yesterday. 'Sigh, are you satisfied now stupid brain? Now leave me alone.' Grumbled inwardly Jesse as she prepared to leave.
"Oi!" But just as she tuned around she heard a shout from the other side of the road. And so comes running over the guy.
"What are you doing here?" Asked Jesse surprised. "Don't tell me you have been waiting here all day?" Asked Jesse guiltily.
"Huh? Don't be dumb silly girl, I've just came now. Dinner is eaten after 7pm after-all right? Or was that just my assumption?" Pondered Ben as he rubbed his chin.
"You moron! Can't you be nice even a bit! Humph." Fumed Jesse feeling her face flush red in embarrassment.
"Hahahahaha." Laughed Ben in reply. "Sorry about that, I didn't mean to make you angry." Replied Ben as he raised his hands as a peace sign.
"Whatever get in I'm hungry, your paying by the way." Said Jesse as she swaggered inside.
'This woman.' Thought Ben with a defeated face as he followed behind.
As they sat on the table, a round of questioning commenced.
"So what's your name? Why did you want to go out with me so much?" Asked Jesse in succession.
"Oh yea I completely forgot, I'm so dumb." Cursed himself Ben as he slapped himself. "My name is Benedict Amadour, people call me Ben. How bout you?"
"My name's Jesse." She replied quickly. "So why?" She said as she leaned closer and stared daggers at him.
"Uhh hum hum. Well it's quite embarrassing to say." Said Ben as he avoided her gaze and blushed slightly.
"Embarrassing?" Wondered Jesse in confusion. "It can't be you saw something you shouldn't have?" She said, feeling her face reddening.
"No no no!" Replied Ben quickly shaking his head vigorously and waving his hands.
"Haah, it was just that once i was going home from college i saw you on the other side of the street. It seems you found an injured small kitten in the side walk, and i saw you pick it up. Afterwards you brought it to a vet to be taken care of and then you went back home." Sighed Ben forcing a smile.
"Wait how did you know i went to the vet and then home?" Replied Jesse completely oblivious of what he was trying to say.
"Well i was just curious what you would do so i followed you to the vet. I just assumed that you went home afterwards. Then yesterday i saw you in the bar." Said Ben shrugging.
"Wait i still don't understand how this relates. What does this have to do with me?" Asked Jesse confused.
"What is confusing about this for heavens sack. I just found what you did heartwarming. And then i met you again yesterday what else could this be than fates?" Replied Ben exasperated.
"I just took an injured cat to be taken care of. Isn't that what anyone else would have done?" She asked as she tilted her head and pondered.
"Ahhhhhh, i give up." Shouted Ben feeling exhausted as he collapsed on the table, resting his head on his hands. "Think whatever you want that was my reason." Said Ben as he closed his eyes and smiled.
Looking at that smile Jesse felt at peace for some reason. "Ok, i guess i see."
After that the atmosphere was quite awkward and quiet for a long time, but none of them complained as they ate peacefully. After they were done Ben asked "hum hum, sooo would you like to go out again sometime?" Asked Ben awkwardly.
"Pffft" laughed Jesse amused.
"So that's a no?" Said Ben downcast.
"You really are a dummy alright. Hmmmm why not? But if it's boring or I don't like it i will leave." Said Jesse as she smiled sweetly. For a moment Ben was mesmerized by the smile before he came back to reality.
"Sigh you unreasonable woman, deal." He replied with a cheeky smile.

After that night Ben and Jesse have been dating for a couple of months afterwards. Going to the cinema, traveling to other countries using money they saved, going to tourist locations, skiing, watching sport match's, watching music consorts. Ben also got persuaded to do volunteering activities by Jesse, as well as taking part into charity.
The only thing that truly changed was how close they were, they were much closer now like close buddies. But never truly went to the dirty stuff.
One day as they were heading home from a pub drunk, Ben walked Jesse home today since she was too drunk.
"Ben, my mom keeps on nagging she wants grandchildren, -hiccup- why are we still not having sex?" Complained Jesse as she clung on Bens sleeve.
"Ehhh wasn't it you who keeps on rejecting me, saying you feared what will happen between us later on." Replied Ben rolling his eyes.
As they kept bickering Ben held onto Jesse's hand as he turned to the left to cross the road after checking left and right, there weren't much people around. And even less cars since it was 4am. So Ben wasn't worried much as he crossed.
The road was four lanes and It was an intersection, so cars can come from almost everywhere. Just as Ben and Jesse were about midway through. From the road behind them, he can see some lights and then he heard the sound of a car moving very rapidly. Ben didn't think much and tried to rush a bit in his crossing.
But just as he was about to reach the other side with Jesse. Because of their extremely bad luck the car was turning to the left which was exactly where they were. It was clear that the driver was either drunk or crazy since it was a red light for him but he simply went straight past.
Ben had no time to think before the car was right behind them.
Eeeerrrrrrrrrr
Only at the last moment did the car driver finally realised there were people in front of him and pressed on the breaks. Which was useless as it was too late.
Ben only had one thought in his mind which was to save Jesse, but somehow before he can do anything he felt himself pushed hardly to the side.
Boooom
It all happened too quickly, Ben didn't even have time to think. Standing up quickly Ben shouted hysterically "JEEEESSSEE" as he ran faster than ever in his entire life towards where Jesse was sent flying.
Yes at the last moment Jesse pushed Ben aside.
"JESSE ahhhhhh." Shouted Ben as he collapsed on the bloody floor next to Jesse feeling utter chaos inside his brain.
"Jesse!!" As he shouted her name hysterically for the third time, his hands shaking as they moved towards her body.
"Ben." A very faint voice was heard from Jesse. Who clearly should be unconscious by now but was miraculously still awake.
"Jesse!!!" Shouted Ben.
"Ben, -cough cough- in that first date we had, you were actually waiting in that road since hours before i came right?" She asked weakly smiling at him sweetly.
Ben tried to reply but he felt his words stuck on his throat, as he felt tears fall down his face.
"Thank you for liking such an unreasonable girl like me."
"Attentively making sure i was comfortable before anything else."
"I love you."
"I don't want to die. But please live on." Said Jesse in a trembling voice as tears streamed down her face. As she fainted.
JEEEEEESSSSEEEE
Ben felt completely crushed, was in agony that could never be unexpressed in words, in horrendous pain.
After that people rushed over, and the ambulance came over as she was taken to the hospital.
