Lilith's eyes fluttered open the moment she heard the muffled shout echo down the hall. Her senses sharpened instantly.
Sitting up, she listened carefully, the faint sound of heavy breathing and the storm outside mingling together. Another pained shout followed.
Without wasting a second, she pushed the blanket off her body, grabbed her phone from the nightstand, and slipped out of bed as quietly as she could. Rose stirred slightly but didn't wake.
Lilith's bare feet padded softly across the floor as she hurried toward the guest room. The door was closed, but even through it, she could hear Sebastian's uneven breathing because of her sharp senses.
She knocked loudly, her knuckles rapping against the wood. "Sir?!"
No response.
Lilith frowned, knocking harder. "Sir? Can you hear me?"
Still nothing.
