Kapitel 38: The Pendant

"Sure."

Roderick gave her a long look, the weight of years and emotions hanging between them. He finally said, his voice soft but distant. "Keep it for as long as you need. I'll go now. Take some rest."

Elise stood there for a few moments after Roderick left, the tension from Felix's outburst still lingering in the air. Her hand clenched the crescent moon pendant, her heart pounding. 

Adella... Adella... why does this name keep coming up?

She sat on the edge of the bed, staring down at the necklace in her hand. The pendant was simple, but somehow... she felt drawn to it, like it was something familiar. Something that shouldn't be. 

Why do I feel like I've seen this before? But, where?

Her mind was racing, replaying Felix's words over and over again.

"I hate you for having that face."
