Kapitel 52: Leaving Zhending

The army was ready to march as they all were waiting for their General. Yun was still in the mansion as he was seeing his twins sitting on Snowflake's back while Diao Chan was beside him.

"It seems it is time to say our farewell until I return from the battlefield," says Yun holding Diao Chan in his arms.

"Just make sure you return safely," says Diao Chan as Yun kisses her.

"Don't worry Dian Wei will take the deadly blow for me," says Yun joking about it when he releases Diao Chan to take his daughter and son into his arms.

"I will miss you two," says Yun as he kisses their forehead when they hugged him around his neck with their little arms making Yun feel warm inside.

"Now listen to your mother until I return with the others," says Yun as he puts them down before he pets Snowflake while whispering into his ears to take care of the three with the rest of the Tigers.

He then gives Diao Chan another kiss before he leaves the mansion to the stables where he mounts Thunder and they ride slowly towards the south gate of Zhending.

He didn't want to see his mother because he already said his goodbye yesterday while getting complaints from her for taking Hua with him. His father would stay behind to make sure that the city runs normally while he isn't around.

He arrives at the south gate and finds the army waiting for him when Shadow lands on his shoulder and he began to radiate an aura of invincibility from himself which encouraged his men.

"Deathseekers, we are moving out. For many of you it might be the first time on a battlefield. Once on the battlefield, I hope you remember what you learned over the years so you can return home to your family," says Yun who didn't need to shout as they all heard him clearly.

He points his spear at the horizon and then shouts infusing Qi into his next words, "Let's show them how real soldiers look like! Deathseekers, move out!"

They felt pumped up after hearing those words making them roar in return while lifting their weapons before they move out to join Yuan Shu and Sun Jian.

They were camping at night since Yun wanted his forces to be at a hundred percent when they arrive at Yuan Shu's camp.

Yun was walking around the camp talking to his soldiers showing them that he was like them when he finds Wei Yan who seemed dispirited about something.

"Is something bothering you, Yan?" asks Yun as he sits down beside his student.

"Teacher!" says Wei Yan surprised when he scratches his head and sighs before saying, "I thought I would be leading men like everyone else."

This made Yun laugh out loud making Wei Yan turn red in embarrassment when Yun says, "I can't give you control over fifty men just because you are my student, Wei Yan. Even I started as a grunt before I was appointed by Lu Zhi into a Squad Leader."

He pets his student's head when he says, "You will get your chance to lead people in the future but for now try to get experience by watching your commander."

"I am not a child anymore, Teacher," says Wei Yan as Yun smiled at him.

"You will always be my student," says Yun as Wei Yan was right.

He was now fifteen years old and was big and muscular. He is about 1,75m tall and had a double-headed spear and two one-handed halberds with him.

Yun tried to get Wei Yan to learn to fight with axes but Wei Yan preferred to fight with the halberds so Yun went with the flow and allowed it.

He stayed for a while longer giving Wei Yan some advice about war before continued his round. He soon arrived at Taishi Ci's side who was sharpening his blade.

"Are you nervous?" asks Yun as Taishi Ci looks up to him and smiles.

"I would lie if I say I wasn't," says Taishi Ci as he looked into the camp and sees his men.

"I think I wouldn't be this nervous if I didn't have this many people relying on me. Is that how you felt when we were sent North to squeal the rebellion?" asks Taishi Ci as he looked at his men which were preparing their equipment to be fully functional in case they are ambushed.

"I was but now I have more people I can rely on to lead the men even if I am not around," says Yun as he was holding his chin.

"How many will we lose?" asks Taishi Ci as Yun sighs.

"It depends on the enemy but I think that we will at least lose a quarter of our men in the best-case scenario," says Yun as he was quite pessimistic about the number since in war many things can go sour with just one wrong decision.

"And in the worst case?" asks Taishi Ci as he was feeling a bit of pain since he spent three years with those people he called brothers.

"In the worst case, we are all dead so you shouldn't worry about that. Try to keep a calm mind once on the battlefield as did I when we infiltrated Guangyang," says Yun as he sat down and sighs.

"It pains me that I will lose my people about such a trifling matter. But we got paid and it will increase our name in the land. And that will lead people to come to us," says Yun as he looked at the men.

"I just hope this war ends fast," says Taishi Ci as Yun smiles sadly.

"I hope so too," says Yun knowing that they will be stuck for at least a year or two fighting Dong Zhuo and his army.

Yun stayed for a bit longer to talk to Taishi Ci before continuing his round finding Huang Zhong and Huang Xu which were sitting around their campfire.

"General," says Huang Zhong as Yun sits beside them.

"Are you nervous, Huang Xu?" asks Yun as Huang Xu couldn't really hide his nervousness like many other soldiers.

"That is normal, boy. Once you were in one or two battles that nervousness fades away," says Huang Zhong encouraging his son.

"Your father is right. It is completely normal to feel nervous on the battlefield. Just don't let that nervousness stiffen you up in a crucial moment. I don't want your father to lose his son after getting him back from an illness," says Yun as he slapped Huang Xu's back lightly.

"I will try my best," says Huang Xu as Yun then looked at Huang Zhong.

"We will be on the road for a long time going by your face," says Huang Zhong as Yun sighs.

"It seems you know me too well, Huang Zhong," says Yun as he stares into the sky while he continues, "We will be staying at least two years fighting Dong Zhuo. We will earn a lot of money but my children might forget my face by the time I return."

"That means that Huang Xu's child will be born before we return. That's why you wanted to leave him behind," says Huang Zhong as Yun nods.

"A father should be there when his child is born," says Yun as he didn't want to separate Huang Xu from his unborn son but that would have been hypocrisy thinking back that many of his men were fathers or expecting fathers like he and Huang Xu.

"Anyway, we should be talking about Yuan Shu," says Huang Zhong as he looked at Yun while asking, "Is he trustworthy?"

"It depends on the situation. If someone spills poison into his ears then he could become untrustworthy," says Yun as he looked at the fire.

"Why should someone spill poison into his ears?" asks Huang Xu not understanding what Yun meant while Huang Zhong understood what he meant.

"You mean to say that someone will get jealous of our victories and tell him that we might overthrow him," says Huang Zhong as Yun nods while Huang Xu was confused.

"But why? We aren't even related to him in some way," says Huang Xu as Yun smiles.

"It is Sun Jian he will be wary of and we will be in the same camp with him after all. This will make us suspicious as well. But all in all, he is trustworthy," says Yun as he stayed with the father and son for a while before retreating again.

He was almost at his tent when he sees Hua sparring with Gan Ning. They seemed to have fun so Yun opted to let them alone since it would take their nervousness away.

He was at his tent when he sees Dian Wei sitting at his campfire with his former crew which became his unit. They were all Yun's bodyguards as Dian Wei was leading them.

"Are you having fun?" asks Yun as Dian Wei scratches his head.

"Don't worry, I am not mad. Everyone is dealing with their nervousness differently," says Yun as he sits down between Dian Wei and another bodyguard.

"I really don't envy you," says Yun looking at them as he knows that a bodyguard is meant to protect the targeted person which would be him.

"What do you mean?" asks one of them when Yun smiles sadly.

"I am a very compulsive man. Sometimes I just rush into the enemy line crashing through it alone. I want you to know that if that happens don't rush after me," says Yun as he didn't want them to die by following him.

"If such a moment were to occur, I want you to follow Tang Shi's or Pang Tong's orders since they are the second most important people in this army and nobody outside our troops knows about it," says Yun as Tang Shi and Pang Tong were the most important people in the army compared to the rest.

Tang Shi can organize people while Pang Tong can come up with a strategy in seconds with which he can bring an advantage for them.

"I understand," says Dian Wei and his men when Yun turned to Dian Wei.

"I meant them not you. You will be on my ass the whole time," says Yun jokingly as Dian Wei's expression turned pale before Yun revealed that it was a joke making them all laugh.

Yun then returned to his tent and wrote a letter that he gave Shadow to take it back to Zhending.
