Kapitel 6: Chapter six
Len and her family were driving two ATVs moving up the mountain at night time, Len looked over at her two brothers and patted her younger brothers shoulder.
" it's ok Tommy we will arrive at cabin one in about an hour or two " Len said glancing back at her mother and grandmother that was in the vehicle with her grandfather.
" Jake better be right about this place being our safest option " Dale said glancing over to his sister who nodded her head.
" he's ex special forces plus one of grandpa's best friends, they'll be leaving in a few days after they get the trucks finished " Len said looking at the map with a small light, she kept thinking if Ali and the others are fine or if they're still at cabin one when they arrive in five hours which will already be daylight when they get there.
" wait did you hear those howls " dale said slowing down to pick up his handheld that his grandpa gave them, he handed it to Len.
" papa did you hear those howls " Len said over the radio then glanced around the tree line.
" yes but it sounded more like wild dogs than wolves, be careful since they don't fear humans as the wolves do " Grady said then catch up with his grandchildren while glancing back at a few of his neighbors who are in the third ATV.
Len looked back as well and the boy who is a couple years older than her in that vehicle came to her mind with an uneasy feeling.
" Dale that boy is around your age what all do you know about him...I don't feel safe with him and I get a very uneasy feeling when he looks at me " Len said making her brothers eyebrows furrow.
" just keep away from him, he's an oddball and make sure to never go off on your own either I don't trust him but I like the rest of his family " Dale said with a small smile which Len caught onto.
" ahh yes Jessica his sister " Len said with a knowing smile that quickly went away when they had to stop because of a tree that was laying across the trail.
" papa a tree is blocking the trail, it seems to be blocking our way around as well " Len said shining a light at the large tree, Grady pulled out the map seeing another trail which is a rougher trail that will lead to cabin four.
" alright we have no choice but to take another trail and we will wait there for Ali's group, this route will be longer and there is no cabin to sleep in at night so we'll have to be careful and take turns driving longer so we will not be out in the open " Grady said sighing, he looked up at the ATV with his grand children then back at the other.
" ok who all can drive these things well, I guess we will have to take turns since we'll be driving straight through for the next two days " Grady said over the radio waiting on a reply.
" Len can come help you drive papa " Dale said when Jessica got on the radio.
" I'll go up to help Dale drive while my brother can help father drive this one " Jessica said as both girls exit their rides to get in the others, when Len passed by Jessica the girl grabbed her wrist.
" Stay away from Jay and do not trust him he's evil " Jessica said handing Len a piece of paper without the others noticing.
A few hours later Brian wakes the others up when the sun rises, they all start packing their gear when Mr. Smith walked over to them.
" have you all seen the guide that came with us " Mr. Smith said looking around, Ali looked at the other three then back at their teacher.
" Brian will go with me to check for him while you two get ready, Mr. Smith a storm is coming so it's best to get everyone ready to go as soon as possible" Ali said walking toward the side of the cabin as Mr. Smith quickly gets the rest of his students on the move.
" Brian we need to grab what food and gas to take with us, but leave some for here in case others show up here " Ali said holding her bow gun as they walked to the shed, he wasn't in the shed so Brian grabbed three of the four hugs of gas to take with them.
" Ali I think he's over there passed out against the tree " Brian said setting the gas jugs down, Ali carefully made her way to the man and kicked his foot causing him to groan.
" get up we're leaving " Ali said in a stern voice making the man nod his head before stumbling to his feet, he jogged up to the two.
" I think I need to postpone our trip, last night I found Macs back pack near the treeline so they was here but something must have happened" the man said pulling off the back pack that had dried blood on it.
" no we won't and I'll give you a thousand dollars to keep quiet about this " Ali said pulling out a wad of hundreds making the guys eyes go wide, he hesitated for a minute but then nodded his head grabbing the cash.
" forget about any supplies we need to move out now...hey how many was supposed to be meeting us here" Ali said looking over at the guide.
" well eight plus Mac " He said making Ali curse under her breath, she couldn't help but think if one of them was infected when they made the trip or they ran into someone or something that was.
" you need to rush Mr. Smith to leave as quickly as we can and I'll give you another was of cash when we get to cabin number four, we need to take less breaks so I'll pay you if your able to do this for me " Ali said when she looked over at her group loading their things inside the ATVs, while looking around the tree lines to spot any threat.
" my name's David by the way " David said walking toward Mr. Smith telling him about a storm and how they'll need to leave now.
They have been travelling for eight hours only taking a couple breaks to eat and use the rest room, David has been riding with them while she sat in between Lillian and Calista in the back seat.
" well it's 3 am we should take a break before we have an accident" David said, he looked over at Brian who was yawning so Ali agreed picking up the radio to inform Mr. Smith.
Len sat close to the campfire while holding her rifle since the others was asleep, she stood up checking the forest that was surrounding them.
" Jay I know your there " Len said holding her rifle tight when she heard him laugh, he walked over taking a seat near the fire while smiling at her.
" look I couldn't sleep it's not like I was trying to be a creep or something" Jay said poking the fire with a stick while looking around, Dale and Jessica was acting like they was sleeping but kept their eyes on the two.
