His self sacrifice is not an act that can be committed by many, especially by those who have had the pleasure of tasting what it feels like to sit in a higher position.

It is very easy for a man who rose from nothing to something to get corrupted, be led astray by the authority and riches that comes with that something.

Too distracted by the wealth he is surrounded by, he had the option of turning a blind eye to any misgivings so long as it does not affect him directly.

That is the kind of life that follows one who has gone from grass to grace. A life of forgetfulness where all that matters is yourself.

Avidius however did not live his life that way. He had the option of purposely turning a blind eye to it all, and just immerse himself in the moment, but he did not do that.
