The onslaught of daemons quickly smashed through the walls of Raikath with the help of their enormous beasts.
The battle was simple, the wall closed the city of Raikath and on both ends of the wall were two impassable mountain ranges. The only way through was via a gate at the centre of the wall. The wall was too high for siege ladders or any siege machines. However there was another way. You make your own way.
The fifteen metre tall daemon beasts smash through the great wall allowing the smaller daemons passage through. Many soldiers were caught in the rubble when the wall first burst, none the less they engaged in battle.
At other parts of the wall daemons burrowed underground bypassing the wall and emerging on the other side.
Zash looked over the initial fighting from atop the wall. He turned and observed the rest of the hoard.
'I have a plan. Apart from the few burrowing daemons, they all rely on the daemon beast to crack open the walls.' Zash pinpointed into his memory of the locations of the daemon beasts.
'If we can kill the all daemon beast before they reach the wall we can funnel all the daemons into the one crack in the wall. Numbers won't matter if you're in a small space, what do you think, captain?' The captain looked across to the hoard and took note of the position of the beasts.
'It plausible but what about the burrowing daemons?'
'They only make up a small fraction of the hoard letting them through won't hurt too much. As long as we can contain the hoard at the choke point we can at least hold out for much longer.'
'But lord Zash how are we going to reach them and even if we do how are we going to beat them?' Zash pondered for a bit before replying
'The hoard is numerous that is their strength. although the beast are more individually powerful as compared to the normal daemons they are still somewhat weak. I will lead the elite force towards the beast and end them, you will take command here and hold out as long as you can.'
'But lord Zash, your presence here is paramount you boost your men's moral if you are to leave...'
'This is the only way there is no other who can lead the elite force, I've sent the royal captain with Solia.' The captain desperately tried to find a way to rebuke but could not think of a a way.
'Calm your self captain, as long as our people get away victory is ours'
...
A sudden burst of pure magic energy erupted from the rift causing it to grow in size. The daemons and royal guards unfortunate to be around were instantly disintegrated into purple specks of matter. Semi-physical sludges of energy smashed into the ground around the rift creating craters as it dragged itself across the ground.
A purple rock with a dark purple gem at it's core was trying to force it's way pass the rift. It seemed to be the cause of the eruption of energy. Lygard noticed this as captain of the royal guard he was trained to be attentive.
'There, the centre of the rift aim your magic at that stone.' The mages at the back focused on the centre of the rift and found their target. The royal guards protected the mages from the incoming daemons.
At the very back behind the mages were Solia and Sythia. After recovering from the shock of having their carriage turned on it's side the watched the battle and looked for an opportunity to flee.
The mages completed their magic circles and fired at the stone. Three separate magical attacks of ice, fire, and lightning shot from the three mages. At the same tine they hit the stone.
