Kapitel 10: Ma'randru-jo - This Kitty Has Claws

Walking down the hill from the City of Markarth, Ghel ponders on how to kill her next target. She's been warned that he's a wizard, he prefers shock spells over the others. Looking over at the Khajiit caravan she easily makes out her target. There are four Khajiit in total; two male, two female. The oldest one is Ri'saad so that makes the younger male Ma'randru-jo.

"I need arrows anyway." She mumbles as she strolls up to Ri'saad. He sits at the front of their tent, cross-legged. As she approaches him he looks up to her.

"Welcome." His voice is old and scratchy. "We have tools, wares and weapons." Ghel crouches down to meet his eye level.

"Do you have any arrows for sale?" She inquires with a small voice.

"We do, yes," Ri'saad answers. "We have some steel and ebony, as well as dwarven." He reaches behind him and pulls the three types of arrows out, laying them all neatly beside each other. Ghel looks at them all. Steel is good for hunting, the metal doesn't break easily but it starts to bend after a bit of use. She doesn't have much experience with Dwarven equipment but she's used ebony before.

"I'll take twenty of the ebony ones." Ghel watches as Ri'saad places the other two types of arrows behind him. Ghel brings a coin purse out and picks about thirty gold from the pouch, placing it in another and handing the full one to Ri'saad.

"Have fun hunting." he comments.

"Thank you." she smiles. Turning from the group she heads North towards Karthwasten.

Ghel gains distance from the group, looking back every now and then. To some she might appear paranoid, others might see her as someone with sharp hearing. There were bears in the area, even some foxes. Fox pelts don't sell for much but bears were a fearsome foe. It's better to notice them before they notice you.

Turning back one last time she can't see the caravan anymore and hikes up the hill to her left, slowly making her way back.

After some time passes she comes across a flat area looking over the Khajiit group. She can see each of them; Ri'saad sits where he was when she left, Atahbah stands at their spit, Khayla is resting on a bedroll and Ma'randru-jo stands between Ri'saad and Atahbah with his arms crossed like he's waiting for something.

Ghel pulls her bow off of her back and nocks an ebony arrow on the bowstring. Inhaling as she draws it back, she aims slightly above her target's head. She exhales as she releases the bowstring from her fingertips, propelling the arrow forward. It's a straight shot, he'll die on impact. At least, he would have if he had stood still. He steps to the side causing the arrow to miss him entirely and going over the camp, straight into the water.

She watches as he signals to Ri'saad, his lips moving but she can't read them. Ri'saad nods and Ma'randru-jo begins walking up the hill towards Ghel. She takes a step back wondering if she should run but decides against it. Nazir said he's an accomplished wizard, not someone you'd really want as an enemy. His eyes have never left her, he knows what she looks like so she needs to deal with this now.

Once he reaches the top, Ghel can see the shock spell charging in his hands and readies a ward spell in her left hand, unsheathing her dagger with her right.

"I knew they'd come for me sooner or later but I didn't think you'd be so cocky as to buy our arrows and then try to kill me with them," he speaks angrily. "You're a different breed."

"Does this kitty have claws?" she giggles, making him glare at her and cast Lightning Bolt. She brings up her ward, it absorbs most of the shock but some of it ripples around her hands. It creates a layer of smoke around her, giving her cover and a chance to attack. Charging through the smoke, Ghel lifts her dagger to drive it into her now hostile target. As she reaches him he brings a hand up, changing the direction of the dagger upward and out of his way. He punches her in the gut, sending her back to where she was. She staggers backwards a bit and holds her stomach before looking him in the eyes and smiling again.

As Ma'randru-jo readies another spell, Ghel tightly grips the hilt of her dagger. Breathing slowly, she watches his hands and readies herself to dodge his next attack. The second he releases his next spell she moves to the right. He continues to throw spells at her, each one missing by a hair.

She reaches him, driving the dagger forward. An annoyed expression rests on Ma'randru-jo's face as he sends the dagger upward and out of her hands. Turning it around on her, he drives the blade into her side making Ghel cough up blood. He grabs her chin and lifts her head up to look into her wide trembling eyes.

"You've made your last mistake." He laughs. Ghel mouths something to him before the red tinges in her eyes swell over the green color. A hand quickly wraps itself around Ma'randru-jo's neck and he lets go of Ghel's dagger as he's lifted into the air, choking on his own breath. He dangles above her for a short time. Almost as suddenly as he was lifted, he's slammed down onto the ground and Ghel sits on top of him, her legs on either side of him. She places her hands on both sides of his head and applies as much pressure as she can before finally slamming his head against the rock beside him.

The red color swirls back to the outer edge of her irises and she stares down at him as she breathes heavily.

"You're not wrong." She exhales and places a bloodied nightshade flower on him. Pulling the dagger out of her, she stabs it into his chest and uses that to help herself stand up.

"I am a different breed."
