The gun wasn’t smoking but was still pretty warm. I needed to know what was going on, if for nothing else than for my own sanity and peace of mind.

“Do I smell pizza?” Ellis asked the room, as he tried to hide the case under his coat.

“Pizzas,” Ken said, his mouth slightly full, with sauce on his chin. “There’s more than one.”

“Or right, I stand corrected,” Ellis said, ruffling Ken’s hair.

Hope got in on the fun, gleefully gumming some of the crusts, while putting her new teeth to the test, creating an impressive munch.

There was still lots of pizza left despite the best efforts of Luke and the boys, our head of security seemingly bottomless in terms of appetite. Then again, it probably took a lot of energy to carry around such an impressive frame.

For a while near the beginning of things, I was half convinced he would have to turn sideways to fit through most doors.
