Things got better before they got worse. The arrival of Mrs. Quickly stalled the need for a hearse. Livy was sure to have a heart attack if things kept going as they were. It was a bit of an adjustment, and just a little bit awkward at first. Technically, our Mrs. Quickly was still working for Andrew Stevens, and could only come to work for Play With Me Toys on evenings and weekends.

Thankfully, it was only for the last two weeks, until the resignation could be finalized. Then she would be a free agent, allowed to do as she pleased.

I wasn’t strictly following the rules, but close enough to the line that nothing could really be done. As long as she kept working for Stevens in those two weeks, there was nothing to be said about what she did with her free time.

It was nearly a month until she would be paid anyway, so the work for Play With Me was really more of a bizarre hobby. Though I had certainly heard of much worse.
