73.43% Cursed Seas and Slashing Tides / Chapter 47: The End of a God

Kapitel 47: The End of a God

"Yahaha!! You can still stand!? How surprising!" Enel exclaimed, eyeing the wounded Ryomen. "But you won't last long."

"Yeah, you won't." A voice spoke from behind Enel.

"Hm? Are you trying to die?" Enel asked as Wyper wrapped his legs around him from behind.

Wyper stayed silent, and all of a sudden, Enel felt his strength fading.

"What…what is this?" The so-called god demanded, his voice strained.

"Do you know…what a sea prism is, Enel!?" Wyper replied.

At his words, Zoro and Ryomen stared in shock, while Luffy tilted his head, puzzled.

"What's a sea prism?" He asked, but no one replied.

"My skates are imbued with it. Now, you'll die!!" Wyper declared.

"It's a reject dial, isn't it? It'll kill you, too." Enel countered, though a flicker of uncertainty crossed his face.

"Just using it once is nothing!" Wyper replied, his voice unwavering, making Enel's confidence falter.

"Don't–"

"Reject!!"

The force slammed Enel into the ground, ripping apart everything in its wake.

"Wyper…you did it!" Aisa cheered, looking at Enel's fallen form.

Suddenly, a surge of lightning burst from the god's body.

"What's he doing?" Luffy asked, wide-eyed.

"He's…restarting his own heart." Ryomen said, a feral grin spreading across his face.

Wyper stared in horror as Enel rose again.

"People do not fear God…Fear is God." Enel smirked. "And soon…you will understand that."

He pointed his arm at Aisa, who was climbing onto Pierre.

"Ten million–" Before Enel could finish, two figures appeared at his sides.

"Haah!!" Ryomen and Luffy punched him simultaneously, the ground trembling beneath the impact.

"H-How…" Enel muttered, staring at Luffy in disbelief.

"Don't get distracted!!" Zoro shouted, charging at Enel with one of Wyper's sea-prism skates in hand.

"This time, stay down!" Wyper joined him, wielding his bazooka.

"Enough of your insolence!! Kari!!" Enel transformed into a thunderclap, the explosion hurling everyone backward.

"Uuuhh…" Ryomen groaned, slowly pushing himself up. "Luffy…how are you alright?"

"Don't know!" Luffy shrugged.

"Can you survive this too?" Enel suddenly appeared beside Luffy.

"A hundred million Volts Vari!!" A column of lightning descended on Luffy, a loud crack echoing through the air.

"Still alive!" Luffy grinned, unscathed.

Enel stood frozen, mouth agape, his eyes wide.

"He's immune?" Zoro mumbled, shocked.

"Is it…something to do with his rubber body?" Ryomen added, frowning.

"Rubber body!? You idiots! Don't you know electricity doesn't pass through rubber!?" Wyper barked in exasperation.

"No." Zoro and Ryomen replied in unison.

"So, he can't hurt me!?"

"So, I can't hurt him!?"

Luffy and Enel exclaimed, each with varying expressions.

"No…it doesn't matter. I'll kill you anyway!" Enel's arrogance returned. "Gloam Paddling!" He melted his staff with his Devil Fruit, reshaping it into a trident.

"Die for your insolence!" He lunged at Luffy, who weaved through his attacks with ease.

"Haha! Is that all!?" Luffy taunted.

"Grrr! Fine, I'll leave you for the end!" Enel vanished from sight.

'Behind!' Even knowing where the attack was coming from, Luffy couldn't react in time.

"Aaah!" he cried out, as the trident's gap trapped his neck and pinned him to a stone wall.

"I'll deal with you first." Enel sneered, then banged his upper drums with his hands. "Sixty million Volt Jambure!" A massive, dragon-shaped bolt of lightning surged toward the others.

"Aaaahh!!" Zoro and Wyper screamed in agony as electricity tore through their bodies, while Ryomen barely managed to dodge the blast.

'Dammit…his speed and power are unreal!' Ryomen thought, clenching his fists. 'If I'm going to survive, I have to power through this somehow!'

"Why do you keep standing? You're going to die anyway…" Enel scoffed. "Might as well go easily."

Wyper forced himself to his feet, undeterred. "For my ancestors!!"

Enel sighed. "I was hoping for a better answer. You're barely conscious, anyway."

Wyper glanced at the sky as a pillar of lightning descended upon him.

"El Thor!!"

The ground erupted with the impact, a shockwave tearing through the area and flinging everyone away.

"Enel!!" Ryomen charged forward, teeth gritted.

"Ten million Volt Vari!" Enel's lightning struck him, but he pressed on, his muscles straining with each agonizing step.

"Tch. You're persistent…" Enel easily dodged Ryomen's punch.

"Cursed Dismantle!" Ryomen slashed, but his attack was just short.

"Enough. Max, two hundred million Volt Vari!!" Electricity blazed from Enel's body, a massive bolt shooting toward Ryomen.

The world slowed around Ryomen. The lightning seemed to move in slow motion, inching closer, unstoppable.

He could feel it—death staring him in the face.

'No.' He steeled himself. 'I'm not dying here. Somehow…someway, I'll survive!'

"This won't kill me!!" He roared, as the two hundred million volts hit him full force.

"Ryomen!!" Luffy yelled, horror and anger flashing across his face.

"Ughh…" As the smoke cleared, Ryomen fell to the ground.

"Hm? What was that?" Enel muttered, catching a glimpse of something—a black, liquid-like substance that had briefly coated Ryomen's body.

"No matter. Now it's time to begin my grand plan!" Enel smirked, disappearing into the ruins.

"Wait, you bastard!!" Luffy, freed from the trident, tried to chase him, but Enel was already gone.

"Where'd he go?" Luffy mumbled, frustrated.

"We can take you to him!" Aisa said, approaching on Pierre's back.

"Huh? Who're you?" Luffy asked, confused.

"You just noticed me!?" Aisa shouted, indignant. "Let's go already! I want to see him fall for what he did to Wyper!"

"Leave it to me!" Luffy grinned confidently.

He was about to jump onto Pierre when a weak voice called out.

"Lu…ffy…" Ryomen groaned.

"Huh? Ryomen! You're alright!" Luffy shouted, relieved.

"Do I…look okay?" Ryomen gave him a pained look.

"Well, you can talk." Luffy shrugged.

Ryomen sighed, his gaze serious. "Take me…with you. I said I'd kill him…and I won't stop…until I do it."

"Alright then!" Luffy smiled widely. "C'mon, we're bringing him down!"

"This is it!" Aisa called, pointing toward a massive cave.

As Luffy and Ryomen entered, they spotted a giant ship with a golden face and windmills along its edge.

"What's that!?" Luffy asked, amazed.

"It's part of his plan to destroy the island!" Aisa shouted from the entrance.

"Huh? Aren't you coming?" Luffy asked.

"Of course not!" She yelled back, Pierre shaking his head along with her.

"Looks like it's just us, Ryomen!" Luffy grinned. "Think you'll be okay?"

"Yeah. How can I stand beside you in the future if I can't help you now?" Ryomen managed a small smile.

"Shishishi! That's the spirit! I wouldn't want anything less from my Vice Captain!" Luffy laughed.

The two exchanged a look, steeling themselves.

"Let's go!!" They shouted together, charging toward the vessel.

"Oh? How nice of you to join me!" Enel greeted from the ship's edge.

"Hm? Didn't I kill you already?" He asked Ryomen, bemused.

"Guess it's not my time yet." Ryomen replied with a smirk.

Luffy stretched his arms, launching himself and Ryomen straight at Enel.

"It's useless!" Enel sneered. "El Thor!!" A massive lightning bolt struck Luffy head-on, but he was unharmed.

"You're only prolonging your suffering." Enel said, readying his new trident.

As he lunged, Ryomen's body reacted, his arm encased in that strange black liquid again, blocking the strike.

"Gomu-Gomu no…Whip!" Luffy's foot whipped toward Enel, who dodged and countered, but Ryomen caught Luffy midair, keeping them both upright.

'He can read our moves…' Ryomen thought grimly, watching Enel carefully. 'This'll be tough with just the two of us.'

"Hey, what's with that weird armor?" Luffy asked, glancing at Ryomen with curiosity.

"Armor?" Ryomen replied, genuinely confused.

"Do you not even know what you're using?" Enel sneered, his voice dripping with condescension.

Ryomen furrowed his brow, glancing down at himself. 'What are they talking about? I can't see any armor…Wait, could this be… Armament Haki? Is that why only they can see it?'

He looked back at Luffy, his eyes narrowing in realization. "You have Observation Haki?"

"Huh? I do?" Luffy exclaimed, just as surprised as Ryomen.

"Do you not even know what you're using!?" Ryomen snapped, his frustration flaring before he quickly composed himself. He took a deep breath, feeling the strange, powerful energy coursing through him. 'How strange…My Cursed Energy and Armament Haki fused together, creating some kind of fusion.'

With a smirk, he turned toward Enel, his stance steady and confident. "Aren't you lucky? You'll be the first to experience this power firsthand."

Enel's eyes narrowed in anger. "I'm tired of you looking down on a god!" He roared. "I'll show you what your insolence has earned!"

He spread his arms wide, a wicked grin spreading across his face. "I'll let you witness the destruction of this entire island!! Yahahaha!"

"I won't let you!" Luffy charged at Enel, his fists ready to strike, but he was too late.

"Max, two hundred million Volt Vari!!" Enel's lightning poured into the windmills, powering the massive vessel as it started to move.

"No!" Aisa cried, her hands gripping Pierre's feathers tightly. "Bird-horse, what should we do!?"

"Piee!" Pierre squawked, flapping his wings anxiously.

"This…is the Ark Maxim!" Enel declared, triumphant, as the ship burst from the cave into the forest, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

"Damn!" Luffy grumbled, then started to kick and punch the ship's golden face. "Gomu-Gomu no…Octopus Fireworks!"

"Yahahah!! It's useless!" Enel laughed—until one of Luffy's attacks rebounded off the golden face and struck him directly.

"Aaah!" Blood spurted from Enel's mouth, and before he could recover, Ryomen advanced, closing the gap with ruthless speed.

"Haah!" Ryomen's punch slammed into Enel's chest, his arm coated in shimmering liquid armor.

Enel flew back, tumbling across the deck as panic flashed across his face. 'No…I feel it! I must get away!'

"Gomu-Gomu no…" Luffy's arm reeled back, spiraling in preparation.

"Cursed…" Ryomen appeared right beside Enel.

"Rifle/Armament!!" They shouted in unison, their combined attack hurling the so-called God against the ship's golden face.

"Huff…Huff…This is nothing!" Enel spat, his mouth bloodied. "Soon, this entire island will fall! They'll all bow down to me…for I am the omnipotent God!" Above him, a colossal storm cloud began to form.

"Just quit it already!" Luffy charged forward, but Enel melted the gold off the face and molded it into a giant golden sphere.

"Gloam Paddling!" He shouted, trapping Luffy's arm inside the molten gold.

"Ouch! It's hot!" Luffy winced.

"Yahahah! I can't risk you injuring me again! Goodbye, blue sea people!" Enel kicked the golden ball off the ship, sending Luffy's stretched arm—and his body—tumbling downward.

Without missing a beat, Ryomen darted forward, catching Luffy by the waist before he fell completely.

Enel smirked. "Now, what will you do? Are you going to let your friend die…or save him?" His mocking tone oozed with confidence.

"Are you an idiot? Don't underestimate us!!" Ryomen replied, effortlessly lifting Luffy and using his momentum to launch the golden ball back at Enel.

"Wha—?" Enel's eyes widened, his confidence wavering. He braced to counter, but a sudden distraction caught him off guard.

"Exploding Star!" Usopp yelled from the ship's entrance, his projectile hitting Enel in a burst of smoke.

Enel's gaze shifted to Usopp, who froze under his menacing stare.

"Er…S-Sorry…" Usopp stammered, backing away.

"You're okay!"

"Hahaha! Great!"

Luffy and Ryomen called out, relief in their voices.

"Yeah, we're here to help!" Usopp proudly replied.

"Huh? You and who?" Luffy asked in confusion.

"What? Is Sanji not here yet!?" Usopp exclaimed in disbelief.

"Hm…so these were the voices I kept hearing." Enel mumbled, his eyebrows furrowed.

Usopp stared at Enel, sweat on his forehead. "So Sanji didn't arrive, huh?" Without any other words he went back through the door, inside the ship.

"At least the electricity didn't alter his brain." Ryomen palmed his forehead.

"Are these the kind of people you're fighting for? How underwhelming." Enel sneered.

"We don't need your opinion!" Luffy slammed the golden ball into the deck, causing it to shatter and drop the trio into the lower level.

"Hey, are you guys okay?" Usopp now returned, yelled from above, peering down.

"What are you doing!?" Enel shouted angrily, watching as Sanji jammed the gears of the Ark Maxim.

"Stopping you." Sanji replied simply. He turned to Ryomen and Luffy. "Where's Nami-san?"

Ryomen's face darkened. "This guy...he…" Ryomen clenched his fist, the anger evident.

"I see..." Sanji muttered, lighting up a cigarette. "What are we waiting for, then? Let's beat him up!"

'If we fight here, they're gonna destroy the ship!' Enel thought darkly. In an instant, he sent them flying back onto the deck.

"Kari!!" Enel transformed into a thunderclap, an explosive force hurling Sanji and Usopp off the ship.

"Whaaa!!" Luffy yelled, holding on to Enel.

"Let go!!"

"Don't let go!!"

Enel and Ryomen shouted simultaneously, Ryomen also gripping onto Luffy.

"Ahh! We just got on!!" Usopp cried as he fell.

"You better kick his ass, or I'll kill you!" Sanji shouted as he plummeted down.

"Bird-Horse! We have to help them!" Aisa called, guiding Pierre closer to the Ark.

"El Thor!!" Enel unleashed a massive bolt of lightning at Pierre, sending all of them plummeting. Luckily, they landed on a bed of clouds.

"What now?" Usopp asked, dusting himself off.

"The others are already climbing." Aisa replied.

"Alright, let's go meet them!" Sanji declared, hoisting the injured Pierre onto his shoulder.

As they started walking, Sanji noticed Aisa had stopped.

"Something wrong?" He asked her gently.

"Is…Is Skypiea going to disappear?" She whispered, her voice shaky, tears streaking her face.

"You…you should know those two at least a little, right?" Sanji asked, a hint of a smile.

"H-Huh? Yeah, I guess…" Aisa replied, surprised.

"Then why worry?" Sanji grinned, reassuring her.

"Yeah, they've decided to beat him, so…just wait for the good news when they're back!" Usopp added confidently.

"A-Alright!" Aisa nodded, her hope renewed.

"Now, let's go!" Sanji urged, leading them toward their friends at the giant vine.

"Yahaha!! Are you ready!?" Enel taunted, eyes gleaming.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Luffy shot back.

"Sanji already stopped the ship!" Ryomen added.

"Yahaha! Do you really think that could stop it!? The Ark Maxim has plenty of backups!" Enel boasted.

"So...I'll ask again. Are you ready…for the beginning of the end?"

"Nami-san! Robin-chan!" Sanji cheered as he spotted them.

"Sanji? Usopp?" Nami exclaimed in surprise. "Aren't you supposed to be on the ship? What are you doing here!?"

"We came to help!" Usopp replied proudly. "But that 'god' threw us off. Still managed to land a few good hits, though!"

"No, you didn't." Sanji and Aisa deadpanned.

"Pierre!" Gan Fall gasped, rushing over to the wounded bird. "Enel…when will it end?"

"Neihee!!" Stronger whinnied, his eyes concerned.

"Don't worry! He'll be fine!" Chopper reassured, tending to Pierre's injuries.

"Enough with the shouting, you're getting annoying." Zoro grumbled.

"Jealous no one's worried about you?" Robin teased, smirking.

"Hey, watch it." Zoro glared at her, while Robin just laughed.

Suddenly, lightning bolts crashed down across Skypiea, wreaking havoc everywhere.

"We have to leave!" Usopp shouted in panic.

"Where would we go? It's too late now." Robin replied calmly.

Aisa then noticed Wyper standing silently amidst the destruction.

"Wyper! Wyper!" She called, but he remained motionless.

"I swear on the great warrior Kalgara…to bring back the light of Shandora!!"

"Wyper! If we don't run, we're all gonna die!!" Aisa shouted.

"Enel…" Wyper murmured. "What gives you the right…to take everything!?"

"Oh no! We're done for! It's the end!" Usopp panicked.

"He's approaching the vine." Robin observed, watching the Ark Maxim ascend. "He must be after the golden bell."

"The golden bell?" Wyper repeated. "Enel wants it!? And how do you know where it is!?"

"The ruins of Shandora are on the lower layer. This vine pierces through the center. On the map of the ruins, the golden bell should be in the center of the city, so…this vine must have been intertwined with the bell tower, and forced even higher into the sky." Robin explained.

"Huff...huff..." Ryomen and Luffy struggled to catch their breath, both near their limits.

'He's stalling us, wearing us down by staying on the defensive!' Ryomen thought, desperately trying to formulate a plan.

Their focus was drawn as the Ark Maxim hovered near the top of the giant vine.

"So, this is it…" Enel murmured, stepping off the ship.

"The golden bell!" Ryomen and Luffy exclaimed, spotting the massive symbol of Shandora entwined with vines.

"The bell that has rung through centuries of struggle!" Enel declared, his grin widening. "As God, I'll take it with me to endless Varse!"

"No, you won't!"

There's nowhere left for you to run, Enel!"

Luffy and Ryomen confronted him.

"Oh, right. I almost forgot you two were here." Enel said nonchalantly, turning to face them.

"Enough of this! Two hundred million Volt Amaru!!" Enel transformed into a towering giant of lightning.

"Huh? What's that?" Luffy murmured.

"Doesn't matter. It won't save him!" Ryomen replied, determined.

The two charged at Enel, fists poised.

"Gomu-Gomu no…"

"Cursed…"

"Bullet/Armament!!"

"Aaah!! Die!!" Enel screamed, firing a barrage of lightning bolts. Ryomen braced himself, but Luffy shielded him, taking the full force and being thrown back.

"This is your end, 'God'!!" Ryomen roared, appearing beside Enel in a flash.

"Cursed Cleave!!" His slashes tore through Enel, who staggered, blood pouring from his wounds.

"Ugh…Uuuhh…" Enel gasped, staring at Ryomen, finally seeing the true demon in his gaze.

With a final breath, Enel toppled off the cloud, his ship plummeting after him.

"Hahaha!! We won!" Luffy raised a victorious fist.

"Now, let's ring the bell!" He told Ryomen, approaching the golden bell.

"Right," Ryomen nodded.

"Hm? Come on!" Luffy beckoned him over, seeing him remain unmoving.

"You want me to ring it, too?" Ryomen asked, surprised.

"Of course! We did this together, so we'll finish it together!" Luffy grinned.

Ryomen stared at Luffy, then stepped beside him. "Yeah...together!"

They struck the bell simultaneously, its resounding toll echoing across Skypiea and Jaya.

'I never thought fulfilling someone's dream would feel this amazing!' Ryomen thought with a broad smile.

"Hahaha!! El Dorado is real!!" Luffy cheered.

"They did it! They actually did it!" Usopp shouted, overjoyed.

"How beautiful…" Robin murmured.

"What a pretty sound! What is it?" Chopper asked excitedly.

Aisa looked up, her mouth agape.

"They don't quit, do they?" Nami said with a relieved smile.

"I always believed…this day would come." Gan Fall said, tearing up.

"Neihee!!"

"Piee!!"

Stronger and Pierre cried in happiness, clinging to each other as the bell rang on.

"That's the sound Noland heard." Sanji murmured.

Zoro sat down, silently celebrating their victory.

"Are you listening, Mont Blanc Noland?" Wyper said solemnly. "We've kept the light alive for you."

On the Merry, Conis and Pagaya stared in shock.

"Is that…the Varse singing?" Conis asked.

"Yes…it is finally free." Pagaya replied.

On Jaya, the Saruyama Alliance looked to the sky.

"Boss…isn't that…?" Shoujou began.

"Yeah. No doubt about it." Cricket replied. "Now that's a great adventure."

"From the sky…"

"I'm shaken to the core."

Masira and Shoujou muttered.

"We can hear the golden bell's song. Noland, my ancestor…was no liar!" Cricket proclaime
