"I should protect innocent people, not talk bad about them," Jacquelyn raised her face and looked around for a place to sit. She had almost forgotten what she was thinking about before her attention had been drawn to the juicy gossip from the maids. If Kael wasn't doing the things he did out of mere kindness, then what was the actual reason? Jacquelyn didn't want to see him as a twisted vampire anymore. She wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Earlier, when she had thought about love, it seemed funny to her because she wasn't sure if a term like that would apply to a man like Kael. But what if she was wrong? What if she had been quick to judge him? Everyone on Earth, while breathing, could fall in love with anyone at unexpected times. All Jacquelyn could ask herself was, could Kael really love a girl like her? She wanted to know, and for that reason, she decided to use everything around her to test her theory.
