The cavalry galloped through the open wilderness with the neighing of the warhorses and wild laughter of the knights.

"Something's not right!" he said. "How come there's not a single pedestrian to be seen along the way?"

By right, there should be many people on the road at this time of the year. When these pedestrians met them along the way, naturally there was only one way out for them.
