"My wife," Flynn whispered.
"Do you recognize me?" Melanie asked, trying to stop the tears that were threatening to fall.
"Why won't I recognize the woman I married a few months ago, Melanie?" Flynn forced a smile and Melanie fell on her knees and cried.
Doctor Hudson rushed in with a few nurses and smiled widely at Flynn.
"Welcome, Mr. Harlan."
"Thank you, Doctor," Flynn smiled.
"I should be thanking you for coming back to us," Doctor Hudson said as he removed the stethoscope around his neck and walk towards Flynn. Melanie stood up and moved away for the Doctor to check on her Husband. She strolled towards Elle who was practically crying, and they both hugged each other instantly.
After they broke the hug, she strolled towards her mother who hugged her and mumbled some words of encouragement to her ear.
After, she watched the doctor as he check on her husband. After a few minutes, Doctor Hudson turned to face them with a smile on his face.
"His vitals are normal and he is also good. We will conduct a few tests on him that will help us further in his treatment," Doctor Hudson smiled, bowed slightly then walked out of the ward.
"Brother!" Elle began to cry as she dashed towards Flynn.
"Come on, you don't need to cry," Flynn shook his head then tried to sit up.
Kyle rushed forward and lend him a hand as he and Elle helped Flynn sit up.
"I've missed you so much, brother," Kyle sobbed silently.
"You guys are trying to make me emotional," Flynn smiled then glanced at Melanie whose hands were clutched to her chest, crying.
"Babe," he called slightly and Melanie walked towards him slowly.
Kyle and Elle stood up and decided to let Melanie have a moment with her husband.
"Flynn…" Melanie burst into fresh tears as she settled on the chair beside his bed.
"Come on, babe, don't cry," Flynn reached his hand to her cheek and Melanie held his hand tightly.
"I… can't help it. Babe, I feel like this is a dream, a dream I don't want to wake up from," Melanie cried as she placed his hand on her cheek.
"This is not a dream, babe. It's me. I am back," Flynn reassured but Melanie only cried harder.
It hurts so much to see his wife crying so much like this. He couldn't help but wonder how long he had been unconscious for his wife to be this emotional.
"Flynn,'' Melanie cried harder, and Melinda didn't have any choice but to move forward to pat her daughter.
"My baby, your husband is back now. You know how bad he will be feeling to see you hurting like this. Come on, put a smile on your face for your husband," Melinda whispered to her ear as she caress her back.
"Okay, thank you," Melanie nodded her head, wiped her tears, and then turned to look at Flynn.
"I'm sorry," Flynn said to her.
"No, you don't need to be sorry. More than anything, I'm very glad you came back," Melanie shook her head and took his hand in hers again.
"Babe, you've lost so much weight. Did anything happen apart from me being unconscious? You look so skinny," Flynn said as he stared at the collar bone that show very clearly.
"I… I'm fine. I guess it's the stress," Melanie lied and bowed her head, playing at Flynn's finger.
Flynn guessed something was wrong, he glanced at Kyle who hurriedly pretended as if something fell.
"Kyle, where is Devon?" Flynn asked and Kyle faked a smile.
"Devon? He hurried home, he should be back soon," Kyle lied.
"Is that so?" Flynn glanced at Melinda whose facial expression didn't change.
Melinda shook her head and said, "I think it will be better if he knows the truth earlier."
"What is the truth? You guys should talk to me. Melanie…" Flynn stared at his wife who couldn't look at his face.
"I will tell you," Elle mumbled.
"Please, tell me."
"Brother, your wife was kidnapped three days ago," Elle shivered slightly as she talk.
"That can't happen. Say something else," Flynn faked a smile.
How could his wife be kidnapped?
Ugh, these people love to tease him.
"It's true," Melanie glanced at him.
"What!? Wait, this is not a joke? Wait, who the hell had the gut to kidnap you?" Flynn flared up.
"Hazel and Zach Tordoff," Kyle answered.
"Hell, no!" Flynn screamed as he forcefully remove the needle that was attached to his skin.
"Babe!" Melanie screamed and hurriedly stood from the chair.
"Where is my phone, Kyle?" he glared at Kyle who had started to tremble.
"Your phone? It is at home,'' Kyle answered.
"You have Devon's number, right? Call him," Flynn ordered then turn to look at Melanie.
"Babe, no harm was done, right?" Flynn held her shoulder not minding the blood dripping from his hand.
"I am sorry," Melanie began to cry.
"Babe, what happened?"
"Flynn, I tried my best. I swear, I tried but I failed woefully," Melanie cried and Flynn creased his brow in confusion.
"Babe?"
"I… I…Our baby, she is no more. I had a miscarriage. I wanted to protect her, I tried to, trust me, but I was powerless. I was weak and useless. I am so sorry. I…I am so sorry," Melanie hiccupped as she cried profusely.
"We lost the baby?" Flynn mumbled and Melanie nodded her head.
"So, you think it is your fault?" Flynn stared at her.
"I am sorry," Melanie whispered amidst tears.
"This is not your fault. Don't blame yourself, okay? We can always make another baby, right?"
"It was evident on your face when you found out that I was pregnant. I saw it. I failed as a wife and a mother. I couldn't protect our baby. I am sorry. I deserve any punishment you are going to give me, trust me. Just forgive me, I am so sorry," Melanie cried profusely.
"Stop all this you are saying. It is not your fault. You are the best wife in the world and our kids would be so proud to call you the best mother in the universe. It breaks my heart to see this. Please, sweetheart," Flynn stoke her hair then glared at Kyle who entered the ward at the moment.
"Where is Devon?" he growled.
"He is on his way," Kyle answered.
Flynn bit his lower lips in anger.
Everyone involved in this is doomed!
He placed his feet gently on the floor and he tried to stand up but he fell to the ground immediately.
"Be careful, brother, you haven't walked for over two weeks," Elle said while Kyle and Tyler rushed to help him stand up.
It took a while before Flynn could stand properly on his feet, after, he pulled Melanie into a tight hug.
=An hour later.
Flynn sat on the bed and waited impatiently for Devon's arrival, he held Melanie's hand in his and fondled them gently.
After a few minutes, the door flung open and Devon trailed in with seven other men.
As soon as they saw their boss sitting on the bed, they all bowed and greeted him in unison.
"Devon, can you explain what happened while I was unconscious," Flynn stated dangerously and stood from the bed.
"Boss, I deserve to dIe! I failed to protect Mrs. Harlan," Devon fell on his knee and the other men hurriedly knelt.
"What happened?" Flynn groaned.
"Mrs. Harlan was attacked by Zach Tordoff's men three days ago. While Mark was fighting them, h…he lost his life," Devon said.
"Mark is dEad?" Flynn creased his brow.
"Yes, sir. I am deeply sorry, boss," Devon bit his lower lips till it bled.
"I must say, I am highly disappointed in you. You failed to protect my family. I permitted you to tighten the security of everywhere my family was going to go in case anything happened to me," Flynn growled.
"I am sorry, boss! I don't deserve your mercy!" Devon said.
"Where are Zach and Hazel?"
"Actually, s…sir, Zach is in our custody. We haven't found Hazel. She left the mansion before we realized that she was in cohort with Zach," Devon bowed his head.
"And you didn't attempt to find her!" Flynn yelled and everyone in the room flinched.
"Sir, we declared her wanted already. A few of our men are at the airports. We have our men in almost every part of LA," Devon answered.
"Did you search all nearby hotels?"
"N…no sir," Devon shook his head.
"Why?" Flynn glared at him.
"I…Boss, we…" at that moment. Devon's phone rang.
"Pick up the call," Flynn ordered and Devon nodded his head and picked his call.
"Hello," came the whispering voice of a woman.
"Hi, how may I help you please?"
"It's about the woman you declared wanted."
"You have information about her?" Devon asked hurriedly as he placed the call on speaker.
"Yes, she is in our hotel. She has a kid, right?" the caller asked.
"Yes. Which hotel, please?"
"Royal land hotel."
"Okay, thank you."
"Uhm, you didn't forget about the reward money, right?" the caller asked hurriedly before Devon could end the call.
"I will call you back once we find her," Devon said then hung up.
"Royal land is thirty minutes drive from the mansion and it is twenty minutes drive from here," Devon said.
"Perfect. I'm going to her personally," Flynn said.
"And you think I will allow you leave here without the doctor's approval?" Melanie glared at him.
