"Hisoka... You know what you did, right?" Netero said, while stroked his own beard with his free hand.
"A clown has to do his show, doesn't he, Mr. President?" Hisoka laughed as he took his hand from Netero's, looking at the old man.
"And this time your show is going to come out pretty expensive..." Netero continued, as he looked at Hisoka with the same smile.
"Good... See you next year then." Hisoka said, as he laughed and turned his back, waving. At the same time, Netero tilted his head slightly to the side, when a card with an ace passed him, without hitting him.
"I'll be looking forward to it." Netero said, still stroking his own beard, while smiling and ignoring Hisoka's attempt. "Hisoka is disqualified for trying to break a rule." Netero spoke again. While he seemed to think of something.
Hisoka laughed one last time, before taking an over-look at Noah and Alice, and leaving the scene the next moment. Noah and Alice didn't seem to mind as they looked at the two remaining boys and then at Netero, who seemed to be immersed in thoughts.
'And now...? The plan initially was to let 3 pass, but I can't decrease that number... Maybe giving the license to everyone who is here will solve it?' He thought, while considering what to do. He initially wanted to make a 1v1 fight until there were only three left, which would be the ones who would get the license, but he didn't want to do the number be below that.
'I think that's going to be this way...' He thought, before looking again at Noah. 'Anyway, I don't think a fight would change the outcome much... This boy's opponent should consider himself lucky.' Netero pondered as he looked at the painting and saw who would fight with Noah.
"Well, because of this unexpected event, you all come with me." Netero spoke to the group.
'What's going to happen now?' Noah thought, while doing what Netero asked and going after him. 'Won't there be more testing?' Noah can't help but consider that possibility, which would be good for him, because he would get his license sooner.
Following Netero, they walked to the elevator again, while Netero pressed the middle room button. After a few seconds, the elevator reached its destination, opening its doors. What was received was what you would describe as a presidential room.
Netero walked straight ahead as he sat in the armchair behind the central table and signaled for the four to sit on their respective benches in that place.
Noah took the front and was the first to sit down, taking Netero's next chair for himself, while looking at the old man smiling. The others didn't take long after this, when Alice took the chair next to Noah.
After everyone sitting down...
*Cough*"Well, due to unexpected problems, the last test will be cancelled." Netero spoke while watching all four. Alice jumped into her chair, but seeing Noah just watching, she decided not to say anything and follow what the boy was doing.
'That eccentric old man... I'm sure it's another one of his pranks.' Noah thought, and right after that, one of the guys who was there got up while screaming.
"You mean I passed all those tests and almost died for nothing?"" He yelled at Netero.
"Hohoho, young man, look on the bright side, you've gained experience..." Netero laughed as he spoke in a friendly tone.
"Don't play with me, old man!" The guy screamed again as he hit his hand on the table strongly.
"So where are our licenses?" Noah said, making sure that was the best part to get in.
"Oh, your licenses, of course..." Netero said, as he rummaged in his drawer.
"Huh?" The guy got confused as he watched Netero pick up four red boxes from inside the drawer and put it on the table.
"What's this? I said the test was canceled, not that you wouldn't get your license..." Netero said, with a smile on his face, causing the man to snap a vein on his forehead because of the anger of having fallen into the old man's prank.
Taking one last look at Netero, the man took one of the boxes while snorting out, unintentionally having to say another word with Netero.
"Hohohoho, young people today are very hurried..." Netero laughed, while the other man also took his box and left the scene. He had no reason to stay there anymore.
So he just left Noah and Alice with Netero in the room while Noah stared at Netero.
The weather seemed to cool several degrees and Alice noticed the holding that the tension was piling up in the room.
Netero was looking at Noah with a smile, while Noah was looking at Netero with a neutral face.
Then Noah tilted his head a little while resmiling to Netero and held out his hand to grab his box. With this, the tension was decreasin when Alice let out a sigh she didn't even know she was holding.
"Tell me, young Noah, what do you intend to do now?" Netero asked Noah directly, he saw a potential in that 8-year-old boy who was possibly the strongest on the exam if you didn't count someone experienced in Nen like Hisoka.
"One more who wants to know my goals?" Noah answered with another question, while smiling and implying that he has received this kind of question several times.
"Well, it's okay to know what the intentions of the new members of the association are, isn't it?" Netero smiled broadly, looking at Noah, who also widened his smile a little. The tension again began to build up, while Alice did not know what to do in the middle of these two.
The two were the complete opposite, one was very old and the other was very new, but the tension the two conveyed was of another level.
"Hoh... Association? You talk as if I've become a employee of a company." Noah retorts to Netero.
"Of course not, young Noah, I just value the safety of all hunters..." Netero spoke again as he looked at Noah. 'This young boy is really talkative... His future is going to be bright.' Netero thought, while looking at Noah.
"Huh." Noah snored when his smile came out of his face and the tension subsided again.
*Cough* *Cough*
The two turned to Alice, who was coughing to have held the air for so long because of the tension.
"Hohoho." Netero laughed at her, while Noah said nothing, and turned his gaze to Netero.
"Anyway, my goal is just to get stronger... Anything beyond that is not something you need to know." Noah spoke as he opened the box and saw his hunter card.
"Hoh... Getting stronger, huh... I remember when I was young like you, that's all I thought too... But now I'm old, bound to be outdone by the new generation..." Netero spoke while pretending to be in back pain and acted like a tired old man.
"At least your acting didn't deteriorate like your sanity..." Noah spoke directly to the old man when the tension began to rise again.
"I'M DONE!" Alice screammed, causing the tension to lower again, when she picked up her box and rose from the chair.
"Hohohohohoho." Netero laughed more at the funny things of the new generation. "I have the impression that I'll still see you two again." Netero said, while looking at Alice and then Noah.
Alice just snorted as she turned back and headed toward the exit.
Noah did not respond while putting his card again in the box and getting up to leave as well. There was no point in staying there anymore.
Alice stood in front of the door, as if waiting for Noah, who had stood up.
"Oh, wait, young Noah." Netero said. "Your goal is to get stronger, right?" He continued, while once again rummaged his drawer, pulling out a small card from there. Reaching out to Noah to deliver the card.
"This place can help you with that." Netero said, seeing Noah hesitate a little, before taking the card and looking at his contents.
What Noah saw was a number sequence, but it was a sequence that he already saw a few times.
'Coordinates?...' He wondered, while looking at Netero. 'Maybe he's showing me a way to learn Nen?' He thought, as he nodded in thanks to Netero.
Although eccentric, the old man wanted everyone to be stronger for the good of humanity, and Noah was no exception. Quite the contrary, Noah was a talent who could not be wasted.
Turning to get out of there, Noah went towards the door, only to see Alice by the side of the exit. Not caring about it, he continued his path.
'I have to prepare early if I want to use the chimera ant arc to my advantage ... The sooner I go to this place, the better for me.' He thought, as he pressed the buttons on the elevator, which soon started to went down, arrieving the entrance of the establishment.
Leaving there, Noah took one last look at his box, before sighing and moving on..
