“I know, he’s never done that before,” Barry said, frowning at the dog.
“Not him, although that’s pretty amazing. I meant Moonlight Shadow.”
“Who?” Barry asked. “Oh, the horse. Is that his name?” He looked back into the paddock at the still-trotting horse. “Suits him.”
“He just accepted you. Let you pet him, kiss him.” Liam shook his head. “Darn, I bet he’d even let you ride him.”
Barry smiled and confessed he’d thought about it. “Only I don’t know how to ride.”
“Huh?”
“I don’t know anything about horses.” Barry thought of telling Liam about the donkey on the beach but decided it would make him sound like a dork.
“You’re shitting me. You handled him just right. Heck, none of us here could get near him yesterday, and we’ve been around horses all our lives.”
Barry shrugged. “I just talked to him, gave him some of Rex’s treats and…I don’t know. He just seemed to like me.”
“Good thing I had my phone with me taking pictures, ’cause no one would believe me if I told ’em.”
