Kapitel 130: The All Valley Tournament Begins

All Valley Karate Championship!

"This year is the fiftieth championship, how time passes in this place..." Devon heard the voices of the younger students getting out of cars and smiled slightly.

She was excited; today was finally the day when the younger ones would showcase everything they had learned to the public.

The older ones weren't as aggressive; they knew that the fighters' experience in Valley-wide matches had decreased, so their role would be to support in the audience.

Many things had changed since last year, the opening of Cobra Kai, and the return of well-prepared dojos hoping to defeat the champions of Sakura Bushido, who, by the way, would only have one participant.

"Do you think if I don't use my right hand, I can still participate in the tournament?" Victor got out of a car and mentioned this to other younger students.

Devon looked at him with disappointment and said, "You're considered for the central team in the nationals, and you want to play in a tournament like this. We've gained a lot in this place, so it's good to have new champions."

Adam nodded at these words and said, "It's a pity to see many students who could have entered our Kung Fu school; many of them joined another school."

"Not everyone is ready to learn what is taught in our school..." Devon looked in the distance at the Cobra Kai kids and was surprised that there was only one woman. It wasn't ideal, but now that she knew there were more women than in previous years, she felt more at ease.

"Well, the training is crazy..." murmured a guy named Colin, who was one of the most outstanding among the new students.

"But now I have muscles, have you seen my biceps?" asked a guy named Carlos as he showed off his muscles.

On the other side outside where the tournament would take place, Miguel was warming up, throwing punches in the air with a fierce expression on his face.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Eli, now known as Hawk, looked at his friend and advised, "Calm down, Miguel, save some of that energy for the tournament."

Miguel, who was extremely angry due to the recent breakup with Samantha LaRusso, ignored his friend and continued training without stopping.

Aisha, who was beside Eli, lightly hit him and said, "Don't bother advising him; he's been angry since he broke up with his girlfriend."

"Where's the Sensei? The tournament will start soon, and he's nowhere to be seen..." Eli looked into the distance at a very calm group of young people, all dressed in the same sports attire.

"Are they from Sakura Bushido?"

Bert, who was beside Eli, turned his head and nodded when he saw someone familiar in the crowd. "Currently champions and have been for five years; we'll have a chance to take the title now that their male division champion won't participate."

"It's a shame; I heard he's in Japan..." Eli had no problem with Dash; in fact, he considered him a good friend who didn't judge his appearance even before learning Karate.

Aisha looked at Devon and a group of girls getting out of cars. "The women's division has more participants than I thought. Do you think we have fewer chances?"

"You're the strongest; you'll win for sure."

"Again, when will the Sensei arrive?"

"He'll arrive..."

Bert, on the side, got a little nervous, remembering what he saw last night, and said, "I wouldn't be too sure about that..."

"What are you talking about?"

"I saw him last night at the mall; I went to buy a carton of milk when suddenly I heard him yelling in the parking lot." Bert recalled what he saw yesterday and was truly overwhelmed.

Aisha got nervous and asked in a confused tone, "Why didn't you mention it before?"

"Come on, we're so used to seeing him drunk that I thought it wasn't a big deal..."

Eli, with his hands in his pockets, said, "We're here, and he's not. Officially, we're in a big damn problem..."

"And if something happened to him?"

"What could happen?"

"For God's sake, I've seen so many things on the internet that it's not a surprise to see people throwing themselves off cliffs with their cars."

"The Sensei would never leave life that way; that's for women, and he doesn't have the profile to do something like that..." Aisha wasn't convinced by Eli's words and stopped him before he said anything else foolish.

Eli had nothing more to say, so he pointed, "Never mind, we're here, we'll have to do this without him."

Miguel, who was about to say something, stopped upon hearing a voice in the distance asking everyone, "Do what without me?"

"Sensei!"

"We thought you wouldn't come..."

Johnny looked at his students and said, "I may not always win, but I never walk away from a fight."

Miguel, on the side, who remained serious, pointed, "Then let's register."

"Not yet!" Looking at his students and thinking a bit about what he wanted to say, Johnny looked at everyone and said, "There's one last lesson I want to teach you!"

Johnny looked at the standout students his students would face and said, "Let's go inside; we'll have a better atmosphere in there."

Kapitel 131: Devon's Speech

Mr. Kim looked at his more than thirty students with less than a year of experience in a circle and nodded as he saw that everyone had made it this far.

"Now that Dash isn't here, do you want to say a few words?" Mr. Kim looked at Devon, who was standing beside him, seeking a response from his star student.

Devon stood in front of everyone, briefly closed her eyes, thought about what Dash would say in this situation, and said, "We've come a long way; everyone should know that we don't always get the same opportunity in life twice. Today is a special day; each one will prove everything they have been learning at Sakura Bushido to the public. Don't be disappointed by a bad result in the tournament."

"Remember that Sakura Bushido is not a place where you learn to be punching machines; here, we learn a purpose, and that is to train the body and reach levels we have never dreamed of."

She looked at everyone now wearing the Karate uniform with the Sakura Bushido logo and nodded with admiration. After a brief pause, she said, "Although our school is not the oldest, we boast more wins than any other, and that puts us in a special position."

Everyone felt excited; they were ready to give it their all in this competition and wouldn't stop until they did. Many of them didn't believe they could ever feel this excitement, so participating in this tournament made all their training worthwhile.

Devon walked back and forth and said, "We've won the last two championships, but now with the growth of our reputation, we've decided that only the champions and students with less than a year of experience will participate this year to generate more competitive spirit."

"Remember, we fight for ourselves and not for a championship; you're all still starting, so give your best and, above all, have fun." Devon said as she bowed to her peers.

"Let's go!!!"

"Let's show them our Karate!!!"

Devon smiled while also feeling the excitement of camaraderie. Despite feeling mentally unstable for this tournament, she would ensure to stay calm and focused to take home the prize in the women's division.

Mr. Kim looked towards where the Cobra Kai students were gathering and asked, "Is that the Dojo Dash wanted to have to train Sakura Bushido members in Karate?"

Devon smiled slightly and nodded. "More than a good teacher, Dash wanted its history; he wanted Cobra Kai to be the Karate division for Sakura Bushido, a good idea but it was rejected."

Mr. Kim nodded, and after taking attendance, he led his students to the male locker rooms, while Devon went to the female locker rooms to accompany the girls studying at Sakura Bushido.

"Aren't you nervous?" A young girl asked, looking at the older girls around her.

"You shouldn't be; Devon won a tournament when she was eleven, beating a girl many years older than her. Trust yourself, and you'll win; that's for sure." Sophia, who was a friend of Devon, was more aware of the martial arts school's history, so she encouraged the other scared girls.

Devon smiled slightly at these words and said, "The important thing is not to win but to know that you've done your best."

At that moment, Aisha, who had changed into a black suit, passed by Devon. Before leaving the locker rooms, she stopped, turned around, and said, "Do you know if Dash will be here to watch the competition?"

Devon furrowed her eyebrows upon hearing someone mention Dash. When she turned her gaze, she saw the only woman from Cobra Kai, so she relaxed, softened her look, and said, "He should be back in the next few days, but he won't be present."

"Many from Cobra Kai would have liked to face him. Well, good luck in the competition." Aisha had no issues with Devon, so knowing she was a good girl and Dash's girlfriend, she wanted to wish her good luck.

Devon nodded and thought, "If Dash participates, no one in this place would have a chance to beat him."

"Alright, let's go to our meeting point to get ready to go out!"

"Yes!"

At that moment, all that was on Devon's mind was winning.
