Kapitel 13: The ultimatum
Julian's expression changed from anger to surprise as he listened to his mother's words on the phone. But then, he burst out laughing, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
"Mother, you think I'm going to marry someone just because you and Father want me to? No, thank you. I make my own decisions," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Emily watched him with a mix of fear and curiosity, her mind racing with questions. What was happening? Why was Julian's mother calling him? And what did she have to do with anything?
"I'm only here to pick up some documents, That's all," Julian said, rolling his eyes. "And by the way, I've already found the girl I want to marry. So, you can stop playing matchmaker."
Emily's heart skipped a beat as Julian's eyes locked onto hers. She felt a shiver run down her spine as he approached her, his smile growing wider.
"You see, Emily, I don't need my parents' approval to marry you. I'm a man who makes his own decisions. And I've decided that I want you by my side," he said, his voice low and husky.
Emily's mind raced with confusion. She didn't know what to make of Julian, or his sudden interest in her. But one thing was certain - she couldn't deny the spark that had ignited between them.
"What makes you think I'd want to marry you?" Emily asked, trying to sound brave despite her trembling heart.
Julian's smile grew wider. "Oh, I know you want to. I can see it in your eyes. You're drawn to me,Emily."
Emily felt a flutter in her chest as Julian's words echoed in her mind. Meant to be? Was it possible? She didn't know, but one thing was certain - she couldn't resist Julian's charms for much longer.
