Kapitel 4: Chapter 4 Socializing

Secretary Song did not like these colorful social gatherings, nor did she force herself to attend, and she didn't let her come in.

Inside the private room, there were only the two of them.

The man walked over and sat down next to the sofa, looked up, saw her standing there motionless, and approached, saying, "Miss Gu, it's so boring to stand. Come sit down and have a drink with me."

Because he was so close, even though the light in the private room was dim, Nanqiao could still see his face very clearly.

The face in front of her was no longer young, seeming to be around fifty years old.

The wrinkles at the corners of his eyes were noticeable, and his figure was somewhat portly.

Especially the ill intent in his eyes, which made her scalp tingle.

Nanqiao moved her gaze away from him to somewhere else, swallowing all the revulsion surging in her heart, "Mr. Zheng, I am here today to discuss that coastal project."

"The matter of cooperation is not urgent, we have plenty of time to talk about it slowly," the man deliberately softened his voice, "Businesspeople prioritize profit, matters of cooperation do not matter as long as there is a benefit, regardless of who the partner is."

The revulsion that Nanqiao had been suppressing stirred restlessly within her, threatening to burst forth at any moment.

She instinctively shifted her body to the side, wanting to put some distance between them.

After moving away, she nodded slightly toward him, "Mr. Zheng, since you are not in a rush about the matter of cooperation, perhaps we can talk about it another day."

Saying this, she turned around, picked up the document bag from the sofa, and walked towards the direction of the private room's door.

But before she reached the door, Mr. Zheng's voice came from behind, "Miss Gu, you must be very clear about what I mean, right? What, are you planning to play dumb?"

"..."

She did not speak, but her steps faltered.

"Okay, since you're pretending not to understand, I might as well just speak plainly," the man walked over and stood in front of her, his eyes narrowing slightly, "Miss Gu, I like you."

It was not that Nanqiao hadn't understood his implications.

But facing his forthright confession still greatly surprised her.

"I'm flattered by your affection, Mr. Zheng, but I think... let's forget it."

Nanqiao was tired of exchanging more meaningless words with him and, after finishing her sentence, she took another step forward.

She circled around him and headed towards the door.

It was just a project, and if it was lost, then it was lost.

No matter what, she couldn't sell herself for profit.

However, the next scene left her dumbfounded.
