"Heh..." The man chuckled softly and then loosened the grip of his hand.

Gu Nanqiao withdrew her hand and took several steps back, as if he were a flood or a ferocious beast.

Huo Jingting's face turned slightly grim, "Are you so eager to avoid me? Am I a viper or a beast?"

"You are neither a viper nor a beast," she responded to every statement he made, and beyond that, there were no other words. "But we are not children anymore. I am already married. We should... maintain some distance."

Already married.

Huo Jingting chewed over those words, his expression growing even colder.

He stared at her, his gaze intense, before speaking again after a long pause, "Why did you marry Fu Lingfeng?"

When he had left without a word, he had guessed the consequences he least wanted to face, knowing she would hate him. But he truly hadn't expected that she would marry someone else.

Why did you marry Fu Lingfeng?

He asked a good question, but Gu Nanqiao only found it ridiculously amusing.
