Aiden woke up the next morning as early as he used to and wanted to stretch out his hands, but he realized that somehow, his arm felt heavy, as if someone was lying on it.

He frowned and looked down at his arm, and that's when he realized that he had not slept alone last night.

He stared down at Ariel; her head lay cushioned on his arm, and her legs were lying on top of his own.

He didn't realize he'd been staring at her face for a long time until Ariel suddenly shifted her face closer to his naked chest.

He frowned.

This wasn't supposed to happen, but as it happened, why wasn't he pushing her away the moment he opened his eyes? He could not bring himself to look away from her beautiful face either.

He's never seen her face so calm and free of frowns, especially when she's beside him. He knew his wife was a beautiful woman, but he didn't know that she had a kind of charm to her beauty in the morning.
